Super Flower Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse Tonight - Will it Happen in the Sim?

There is a lunar eclipse tonight that will be a total “Blood Moon” eclipse. According to Space.com, “it will [be visible from North and South America], Europe, Africa, the Middle East, most of the Pacific, and even Antarctica, though not everyone will see its totality (aka, the hourish when it’s blood-red).”

It would be cool if it happened in the sim, do you think it actually will?

Unlikely. The moon in sim only features the basic phases and nothing special as I guess

I think it has in the past and the sun eclipses as well. But I don’t think it’s exact.

I hope it happens.
I did a short flight the other night and I gotta say, the moon and stars looked fantastic.

Judging by this post, if sounds like you won’t see anything.

No chance in hell.

Yeah, I suspect it won’t and that’s not a problem for me. But if we do see it, that would be incredible. If it doesn’t I’ll mark your post as the solution, thanks.

I guess it’s not Kerbal Space Program.

Well, I myself am flying tonight… I may not see anything but that wouldnt be so bad. I havent been night flying in a while. I just have to figure out where to fly from.

doubtful, the lunar eclipse would require specific programming compared to a solar eclipse. That’s just Moon position blocking out the light point of the sun, an easy occlusion (that is still not accurate the way the sim depicts it but, looks cool enough).

even that doesn’t do shadowed eclipses by default. And even the mods that do it don’t do it properly

Try 9pm over Seattle tonight for a glorious full moon. Loving it!

Last week I checked to see if the world map shadowed for a solar eclipse but it didn’t. If Kerbal can do it I’m sure MSFS could, it’s probably just too low on the list.

Why don’t you try it out - already today? One can set the simulation time into the future, no?

Will the creatures that normally rise during a blood moon event also appear in more rural and wilderness bushflight runways?
