Support for Wide FOV VR headsets (removing Frustum Culling issue)

Well, found out the reason. Pimax hmd led color shows green even when parallel projection is on. Not a issue for me.

With parallel projection on in pitool v1.0.1.268, firmware v2.1.255.296. Fs2020 render scale 100. Steamvr custom resolution multiplier 3232x2780 80%.

I m using the latest nvidia driver 461.09 and hotfix 461.33. The best vr experience so far with this drivers and steamVR beta 1.16.2.
Landing and takeoff are smooth even with parallel proj turned on.

Still hoping the frustum culling can be resolve for even better fps and smooth handling of fs flight without parallel projection.

Hello everyone. I have the an 8KX and my experience is really bad when the headset is not working but when it does work it is fun. Most of the time I have to restart my PC for Steam VR to open. When it does open and the game actually starts in VR, the screen from inside the headset looks broken and as a result I have to shut the game down and/or restart the PC again and pray it works. When it does start there will be another issue like the screen is shaking when I move my head and as a result I have to once again restart the game all over again. I tried disconnecting the headset wires from the PC and/or making setting adjustments in PiTool then I restart again and the game will have the same issue causing me to give up and use my TV monitor instead. I can never just turn on my PC start the game and be happy to play. What am I doing wrong? I have a i9-9900K, with a RTX 3090, 32MB of ram and I the game is installed on my M.2 drive. Is there a specific PiTool driver that is preferred? or Nvidia driver? MSFS 20 is the only game giving me issues. Please fix this. Any help would be appreciated.

I will have to try this tonight.

So I use the new SteamVR Beta 1.19.- and turned off certain features in Windows Graphic settings as well as Game Mode and I was able to play VR again. I am assuming leaving Gsync on does not affect gameplay in VR, correct? Also, does anyone use Smart Smoothing? I leave it off. In a 747-8, I was able to get 42-46 fps flying over Manhattan with low settings, render scale at 60, terrain texture at medium, overcast clouds at medium and in game SS at 6x6. Baby steps.

My vote here! This is super important.

Hi ManAmal,

I am using Pimax 8K X with RTX 3080 and i7-7700K with MSI Z270 Gaming board and 32 RAM and really frustrated with the same issues you are mentioning when running FS2020. Can I ask you what settings you are using now to get a decent running game?
Windows, PiTool, SteamVR, FS2020 settings?
How do you start FS2020? From PE or from SteamVR?

Thanks so much it is so frustrating.

Hi, here is a video I posted regarding my settings. Let me know if it helps you.

With todays patch 1.14.6.0 I see even more frustrum culling. To a point its really distracting. Its even more frustrating because I get great frames with the latest patch (well done). I would not mind a to edit a config file to get rid of the culling. Please Asobo, there must be a string of code somwhere wich could be made public, so we very-wide-fov-users could have a workaround.

Thanks, Marcel

Yes, I agree with you. At least, if they would tell us how to do it with config file it would be a very good solution at the moment.
