TERRIBLE LOD is destroying a potentially great sim

So wildly inconsistent that even when it looks good you’re still a bit in doubt. I just decided to check out Seattle, then Vegas and on to NY. All looking solid with the PG, as it should and used to. Then on to Paris and oh my. Difficult to describe how bad it looked…
Plus the morphing, popin and changing textures are now way more aggressive then I’ve seen before in any of this post SU11 weirdness. Beta or not

Found some old screenshots of SU10 LOD or whatever we decide to call it. Grand canyon here:

And then what we’re treated to now:

Come on man, please post some realistic screens. How much zoom is that? 200%?

If i zoom in that much on the best looking Xbox game available, you will see the same thing.

I’m starting to think this is intentional, not a bug.

For me, it consistently looks pretty mediocre currently. It does not matter whether I’m online on offline, whether live traffic and/or multiplayer is on or off, whether the detail sliders are at 100 or 0 or whether I fly the 152 or the A310. In all these scenarios textures are aggressively unloaded based on distance from the object, there is a clear circle of detail around the plane beyond which the LOD is really basic and antialiasing seems to have been turned off completely.

The upside I guess is that the sim runs smooth as silk and seems very stable. I was even suspecting it was running at 60 fps yesterday (i’m sure it wasn’t, but it was super smooth from takeoff to landing).

Still… being a VFR simmer I miss the original fidelity a lot. When MSFS launched on the Xbox I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I even had to ask my wife if she was seeing what I was seeing. It was mindblowingly gorgeous. Now… meh. I mean it’s still ok I guess but it’s definitely not beautiful and impressive like it used to be, which, for a person like myself who likes to marvel at the beauty of our world, is a big deal.

Oh well… I suppose we just have to hope that someone at MS/Asobo reads this thread and takes it seriously.

i am repeating myself but this is really shamefull…

i have never flown over there but such degradation can’t be granted by users

of course it is, absolutly no doubt

in my opinion we now see and can’t deny the limit of the Xbox and the financial priority given to keep a marketplace income alive by sacrifizing visual .

that’s sad but we have to admit and specially and whatever wasm will allow pmdg planes or others, we won’t get back what SU10 made us dream with because of Xbox spec limits

For me right now the Xbox Series X experience has become like Series S in 2021 and that is not acceptable!!
If the developers want to decrease quality for performance that’s fine, but they need to tell us exactly what’s going on!!! And in this case, they need to implement a switch to allow us users to choose whether we want performance mode or quality mode so we’ll all be happy, because users, in the end, must have the ability to choose.
So Asobo, if you don’t want to go back to the same quality as before, tell us the truth and please implement the graphical change so that users who want the best possible visual can choose it, possibly with the same quality as before downgrade, with all the concerns and people who also want the performance can have it.
Al people happy no more problem

The graphics are fine in my case on XSX only when flying at very low altitude, up to 2000 feet. Any higher than that and you start to notice the reduced draw distance circle. Its a sharp cutout where trees and buildings dissapear suddenly. This wasn’t the case in SU10 version.

A different issue many of you are reporting are temperamental severs, not able to handle all the traffic and that results in erratic graphic quality when it comes to PG areas and ground textures. This can be fixed easily but the reduced draw distance is concerning.

They will never be upfront and tell us that is what they have done. There is no question that the beauty of the sim has been severely downgraded. Their silence on this matter says it all.

If they Made graphic modes i think they can tell something like hey, if you want better performance but with some sacrifice in visual quality take performance mode, if you want best visual quality possibile but with some instability take quality mode, that’s it, no more LOD issue discussion, downgrades discussion, etc.
Better for them and better for al of us
A lot of games from last mid gen did it and a lot of games to come will Made it

Ok, we all agree that graphics have been heavily downgraded, but I see people zooming like crazy searching for problems, and in my opinion that’s pointless. I play on a super old full hd 37" Sony Bravia, about 2 meters from the screen, and I really have to deliberately look for these things. I started this topic because I noticed something wrong the day the Beta became public, but since then my experience got better. And if I have to choose, better a smooth game without CTDs. At least I can play it.

I sit maybe 1,5 meters from a fairly new 55" LG OLED 4K screen and I can assure you that you don’t have to zoom anything to see the problems. With a normal pair of eyes you cannot NOT see them.

Do I have to sit so close? No. Do I want to sit so close? Yes! And it was fine before, but not anymore.

I agree that the zoomed screenshots here can seem a little silly, but I think it also has to do with the fact that this forum is read on smaller screens. It’s a huge difference to look at my own screenshot on my 13" laptop screen on which I’m writing this and my 55" screen. So you have to zoom in to show what you mean.

There is a wishlist for implementing basic graphic modes for XBOX. Such option would be great for people flying frequently in wild, undeveloped areas frequently as we already have great frame rate there and could choose higher graphics fidelity.

Don’t know why, but I can’t upload screenshots to the Xbox network right now. Anyway, I compared some screenshots I took some weeks ago around La Palma, Canary Islands, with some new captures I took today. I honestly can’t see any difference. Maybe some more noticeable morphing (not visible on screenshots, of course)… I can even see trees on the other side of the crater, several kilometers away. I think it depends also on where you’re actually flying. Difficult to compare.

I didn’t really zoom that much. Just mostly cropped the images.
The first images of pre SU 11 is almost as close

Unzoomed drone cam screenshots

Care to explain this then?

No I’m good, thank you. Your screenshots speak for themselves. Not seeing anything out of the ordinary.

I am completely open to much of this simply being server issues, but even then I have yet to see anything as bad as what happened here a couple days ago:

No connection issue alerts. All online functionality supposedly enabled and issue persistent after restart and clear cache or disabled
