The Halo spaceship DLC

xplane is real sim but the link its 20 years old :rofl:

you can fly in xplane with space shuttle thats is fine and realistic but sci fi halo ship has nothing to do with flight simulation

What exactly is the difference from core sim perspective? NOW I’m thrilled to read about that :slight_smile:

Bye

to flying aircraft or space things or rockets that have flown in real life not a starwars or halo sci fi ship that never have flown in real life that has nothing to do with flight sim

Is the thinking that adding something frivolous takes away from what’s there? MSFS is trying to make this niche hobby a bigger tent, and is that really so wrong? Why would people think this is some sort of zero-sum game, where adding something they don’t like then takes away things they do? The Pelican didn’t uninstall the 310R or 414 AW. Flying it for 5 minutes doesn’t delete the Fenix A320 or PMDG 737-700. XP12 will be great, but shockingly you can have both installed if you want.

I don’t really buy the argument that ‘The Pelican money/effort could have been spent on bugs!’ when the mirror reasoning of ‘Attracting more people to the hobby finances other things to grow the sim’ works just as well, and maybe even better.

Anyway, it’s just a bit of fun. I’m still happy about the INIbuilds A310 coming for free. :rocket:

Who cares? It’s optional. Seriously what is the big deal about having a free optional download for people who want to fly it? Those that don’t want to fly it, well then don’t.

If true realism is what people are after, you probably weren’t running with multiplayer on anyways.

The outrage just seems all kind of silly to me.

No, I meant the core sim as you said X-Plane flight model is superior. All I saw on XPs trailers about XP12 is not better than what MSFS offers by now with the difference that a flow simulation is already usable here.

Also still you can skip that optional download here like you can skip fictional downloads on XP - so I’m still waiting for your valid point :wink:

Oh, talking about that - what about getting a dinosaur for XP instead? Quetzacoatlus - Custom Designs - X-Plane.Org Forum

Thank you Gordon.

Always a pleasure.

Hate to break it to you, but anything not being run on an approved FTD is not a “real flight simulator”.

I would not be surprised, at an influx of new accounts here from that corner of the community on some sort of vengeful campaign to stir chaos and discord among flight simmers because of this.:rofl::joy:

fm still lacking compared to xplane if you look how helicopters fly in xplane vs msfs big difference
what you let see almost nobody fly with that stuff its on the forum for those who want that only 300 downloads its almost nothing

‘Real’ is a relative term dependent on context.

Your context is apparently different from mine.

Having enjoyed a career flying real aircraft and now I am retired, I’m sure you will understand.

Enjoy your context.

Helicopters are arriving in November and will likely be superior to X-Plane as the rotors air got feed back in from obstacles which was not showcased by Laminar but by Asobo using the Velocopter.

What else is lacking?

I think yoiu’ll find that’s because helicopters are not yet properly enabled in the sim - they are coming in November, so not really a shock that they don’t work very well at the moment.

H145 flies really well without Airland.
R44, Mosquito and H125 fly very well with Airland.
So that’s a matter of personal taste and opinion.
I’m actually hoping Asobo are working with the likes of HPG, DodoSim, Airland devs or real life rotary professionals with this implementation.
Guess we’ll find out soon.

Agreed, it’s very short sighted, and it’s the type of short sightedness that would guarantee that flight simulation stays a niche hobby. It’s foolish to gatekeep how people are allowed to use flight simulator.

To me flight simulator is neither only a simulator, nor a game, it’s both. It can be made as real as you want, or as fake as you want. Personally I fly IFR most of the time, and like messing with instruments and buttons, but it’s nice being able to get away from that sometimes.

There are much more stupid community add-ons for Flight Simulator outside the marketplace. I don’t see anyone complaining about those degrading the simulator. Probably because they don’t. It’s the user’s choice what vehicle they fly. I mean, there’s even a speedboat.

Dear Developers, thank you for releasing the Halo Pelican. In my opinion it fits perfectly to the Sim.

Seeing others in generic airliners (if you don’t have their given add-on) and people flying randomly all over the place, crashing at airports, trying to land 747s at Courchevel is less silly? Real-time multiplayer will never be realistic looking in my opinion. Services like Vatsim, probably, but the core sim is best if you turn off multiplayer completely.

I just changed “VISIBILITY_CODE” to ‘1’ in “…\LocalCache\Packages\Official\OneStore\Asobo-aircraft-pelican\SimObjects\Airplanes\Asobo_Pelican\model\Pelican.xml” (backup it first).

	<Component ID="Hiding_Secret_Component" Node="Front_MachineGun">
		<UseTemplate Name = "ASOBO_GT_Visibility_Code">
			<VISIBILITY_CODE>1</VISIBILITY_CODE>
		</UseTemplate>
	</Component>

I swear that I didn’t do anything and say nothing Mr. Policeman! :shushing_face:
