Excited for the 744, but hoping an SP, SR or 747-400D make an appearance

Im fairly certain I read from Randazzo a while ago that the ambition is to do every 747 variant. Including freighter variants and the modern -8

Obviously what comes first seems like the 100 or 400, so if they do all of them probably 6 months between the first and the last. I’d be really pleased if they do them all, I’d buy a few variants, livery dependant of course. Need some Qantas and Air NZ love, United Battleship grey, Northwest, Cathay, Singapore, JAL. So many operators so many choices

No I don’t, I think most devs are moving to 2024 only for future development.

I think nobody will do a high-end version for FS2020. It is by now clear that you just can’t have FS2020 code running in FS2024 without serious drawbacks:

  • Way more WASM issues (85% of WASM reports to us show some FS2020 code running!)
  • Performance suffers
  • Memory demands are higher
  • You can more or less forget PS5

So if you want FS2020 and FS2024 compatibility, you need two pretty separate development processes. And as FS2020 is commercially just very small, it makes no sense. We did so for the 777, and it was pretty painful and expensive.

2020 and 2024 would need two separate aircraft developed. They’re not going to be able to develop just one for both sims. Since we’re coming up on 2 years of 2024 being released its safe to say that most devs are going to be developing aircraft for 2024 and not 2020.

We have always been totally open about our discoveries regarding WASM issues in the hope others might do the same, unfortunately that did not happen, indicating other 3rd parties have not done any research or do not want to share. That is troublesome.

Note that I did not include what products are putting FS2020 compiled files in FS2020, but I did contact all of them to point ou our finding. So far I think none have taken actions to correct this.

I appreciate the extra effort that PMDG has put into investigating the WASM issues. I personally have been very lucky - I have not experienced a single WASM crash in my many hours spent in FS2020/2024. But like you’ve said before, no matter if it’s a PMDG product or not, WASM crashes negatively impact consumer trust not only in individual addons, but in the platform as a whole.
