I think suggesting the Series X beats ANY PC is a bit too much. I also started playing MSFS 2020 on the Series X. I went from 20 years on FS9/FSX and saw the Xbox Series X as a cheaper alternative to a newly built gaming PC, so that I could get started with MSFS 2020.
But the harsh reality about the Xbox consoles is that they have a significant RAM limitation. And I fell victim to the well-known black screen bug that ruined my experience. Asobo’s only solution through Zendesk? Stop using 3rd party addons.
It’s because of this that I moved to PC and never experienced performance issues ever again. Plus, the availability of freeware addons is a massive gain. So I’ve never really looked back.
But my PC is a mid-tier rig from 3 years ago and just isn’t good enough for MSFS 2024. Once again, I saw the Series X as an alternative. But sadly as we all know, this didn’t pan out very well. It seems the memory/RAM issues are still at large, and whatever problems MSFS 2020 had on console, MSFS 2024 is worse. The stuttering and CTDs? Almost definitely a RAM issue.
For those wondering - this isn’t a hate post against console. I play more games on my Xbox Series X than on my PC. I think the Series X is a great choice for those looking to get started with fight simulation but for anyone looking to get serious, a PC will do the job really. So yea, I really do not think a Series X will beat any PC. Maybe a low tier one, but that’s it.
