This is the 225/03 wind thread

I replied to the main update thread to request if they can clarify the text. See if that helps

I’ve flying around typhoon in Korea yesterday. Wind speed was steady between 2-3 knots, wind direction had some drifting but mostly around 225.
Even tried FL450 wind speed was consistent to 3 knots so i thought wind indication on Cessna Citation Longitude was buggy so changed to A320, B777 but i got the same result. Interesting thing was after landed at jeju island(RKPC) raindrops were flying horizontally like there is strong wind.

You got me completely wrong, but I might have made myself not clear enough before.

I’m one of the loudest here (and on Twitter, too) when it comes to this issue, and I’m extremely disappointed in MS/Asobo not dealing with it basically since December, i.e. TA1.

Before, I was just describing how great it could be if the weather was spot on. I haven’t been able to get information about the wind, the plane I used didn’t let me. I also stated that in Miami the weather was incorrect yet again, btw.

For all of you who were waiting for yesterday’s patch to see this getting resolved: I’m not sure if the problem is server or client based. Only if it was the latter, we should expect a fix via a patch, otherwise it could starting to work anytime, after they fixed it on their side.

Happy flying

No i think I got you, I wasn’t being facetious in any way, I was simply trying to determine how you determined it was “working”…i beleive you! I’m trying to make sense to myself exactly what’s going on i guess…

What’s really starting to annoy me is that now everybody and their sister advertises for flying on VATSIM or IVAO with MSFS. I picked yet another fight over this on Twitter and on AVSIM.

If the weather isn’t nowhere near reality, how should a controller be able to separate a MSFS aircraft with winds 225/3 from pilots using P3D or XP??

So far this is 2 partners that are affected by a program issue. Anyone know anyone higher up at vatsim? someone better be freaking sweating over this…unacceptable.

I spoke with someone at meteoblue, and from what I was told, it sounds like a game client problem.

They see all their data going out to MS/Asobo. Asobo sees all the data coming in, and then going out via the client. Its just once in the sim we see the issue. Seems like its going to require a patch, and its not gonna just magically start working as you said.

This may also be the reason why they havent taken this seriously yet. People complain about weather, and everything on their end looks fine, and they figure its user error, or Ive gotten the response that the live weather may be delayed. Like im not being nitpicky here guys, but the wind aloft 225/3 just about globally, is not a time delay issue lol

I GOT IT! We are living in a simulation…and thats what the wind really is, the weather you see outside is the simulation and IT is not accurate. Let’s spin the house to change the lightly shall we? yes…i need to laugh about this.

Way too many reports since TA1 to think it’s a user error. Take another guess…

And it’s not just the winds aloft, the surface winds are not working either. It as if there is some sort of bubble around the airplane.

As others have noticed it’s not just the wind…I tried a little test to see if the weather was working correctly in Europe but not in the US as was reported. A flight out of KDFW showed the standard 225/03 winds everywhere, and even though I had clouds and even the thunderstorms yesterday were rendered correctly there were no surface winds either.

A flight out of EGLL was completely different…winds appeared to be correct (even winds aloft) and I even saw something that I had never seen before…icing at altitude. I had never done a flight in Europe with this sim and I wasn’t even sure if the window heat and AI was implemented in the A320..but sure enough ice started to form on the aircraft. It turned out to be another example of the immersion that I am missing from a feature that I didn’t even know the sim had because the weather is not being rendered correctly anywhere outside of Europe.

Join us in our dissent! I normally fly in North America…i flew in Italy just to see, and it was a night and day experience (timezones aside). I felt turbulence where I would expect it, the plane would jar occasionally from a gust. So this only adds to the frustration, because I know how good it could be.

This is weird, I’m doing a flight right now from Europe to the US, and the wind was working correctly. As soon as I passed over Ireland, and was out over the open ocean, wind suddenly dropped to 225/03, at FL400.

Really weird to see this happen within the span of a flight.

EDIT: alt-tabbed back into the sim, plane jerked around a bit, and wind is at 257/55 again. This is odd to say the least.

WSSS - YSSY, from WSSS to coast of Aus, real winds are present. As soon as within few miles of Aus west coast, the winds go 225/3 all the way across to YSSY. Same in NZ, all winds there are 225/3 and Japan too. Real winds are working between WSSS and RPLL. Winds work in parts of Europe but not all areas (e.g. Poland) Winds work in Africa. So there are patches of the globe that have real winds but large areas like USA, Oceana, Japan most definitely do not.

yep, apparently, it just jumped back to 225/3 again 2 minutes ago. Guess when there’s no information available for whatever reason it defaults back to 225/3, and as soon as info is available again it picks up on it.

You may have missed my point…
Its clearly not user error, but that’s always their BS response to me on Zendesk. They have to realize just because it looks fine on their end, its not on ours.

I wasn’t in alpha, but i dont doubt this issue was there then either. I mean its not like it just started out of nowhere lol

Yeah, Ive yet to see correct surface winds either, but at least they aren’t always the same EXACT value. Its like at least the broken weather system is trying with the surface winds, for whatever that’s worth lol. METARs are generally just wrong.

Unless im flying in europe, VATSIM is basically impossible at this point

I should’ve enclosed my reply to you with brackets for sarcasm

No, I got your point. It’s just my frustration that doesn’t let me take things too seriously anymore.

What if the problem is more serious than we think and that this is the reason why they haven’t addressed it so far. It is so obvious that they should’ve fixed it even before Alpha testers got involved.

yeah…I think we’re on the same page here :grimacing: :grimacing:
I just hope active sky gets involved eventually. Ill gladly throw my money at them. Like you said, this should’ve been fixed a longggg time ago.

Not sure that this is going to happen tbh. The data itself is there (like you confirmed with MB), it’s just the engine that brakes at some point.

Not sure if AS could do anything if MS/Asobo didn’t open up their SDK also for the weather engine…
