Looking for opinions on this plane. Because I would have to upgrade, it would cost me 89 glorious US greenbacks to get it.
Background: I love the CRJ, and I love the TBM with the WT mod. I would love a longer-range jet with a glass cockpit, and this would seem to fit the bill. The WT G3000 is absolutely amazing. Does that mod work with this plane?
I flew the CJ4 yesterday and it doesn’t give me any different mission than the CRJ already fulfills. Plus it would roll slightly left and right in cruise flight (does the Longitude do this?).
I realize paying $89 for it is probably mental, but I’ve done dumber things. So what do you guys think about the Longitude?
Personally I love it. Its taken me around the world twice and its the plane I always fly. I would recommend that you add the update from darkfly that takes better care of the flight model and also the working title garmin 3000. Doing those two things really gave me a better experience, I know what you mean about shelling out the cash but I didn’t regret it. By the way.. fully expect other negative comments. Me. I love it.

I agree, great plane to fly - with the two mods mentioned.
And if the promises just made that these ‘locked’ planes will be allowed to have more mods - trivial but doors that open for instance, and once the G3000 / 5000 properly does RNAV, it will be fantastic!

I had originally bought the Premium Deluxe license to get the Cirrus, but the Longitude became one of my guilty pleasures.
Bottom-Line: it is a better jet with Dakfly’s Flight Dynamic’s mod and the Working Title G3000.
VNAV is advisory only, but that’s what I use the altitude projection arc for - I adjust it so it lands right or before the next waypoint to ensure I make the altitude constraint.
Teterboro to De Gaulle? Check. It’s a fun jet and the only non-commercial liner in the stock sim that has an Auto-throttle.
Loving the replies so far! So you ponied your the $89.99 to upgrade for the Longitude and you’re happy with it? It’s tempting. I really want the modern avionics and the range. Sounds like you all like it a lot.
Previous dedicated pilot of the TBM. Before FS2020 - CRJ or King was my 'horse. The Longitude has provided months of further training / education on PFD / FMS / VNAV / Flight Planning - which I’ve really enjoyed. Compared to my previous fav’s - the Longitude is rather easy to land with my MFG pedals and a simple stick - (maybe too easy) . And, admittedly - I have not pursued any of the “big tubes” (737 and above) - which from visiting our forum daily - the big steel seems to be the most sophisticated, involved, realistic, etc. I had great fun with the TBM - but wanted to plan longer flights, higher speed, with G3000 & (advisory) VNAV capabilities - the Longitude fits me to the “T”…
Ya know, I tried it once and though it’s pretty similar in terms of the FMS to the CRJ, I just found it kind of clunky and not as intuitive. There seem to be a lot more buttons to do the same things as you can do in the CRJ (adjusting the range on the PFD and MFD maps, for example - simple stuff). Plus it basically has the same range and speed as the CRJ, so it really fulfills the same type of mission.
I’m kind of in “go big or go TBM” mode I guess. And much as I love the CRJ, I really want something that’s a little more “get in and go”. It takes ages to get the CRJ set up and going, which is fine. And I suspect the same (and more) will be true of the 737 when it comes out.
So basically longer range, simpler avionics, easier to get going, that seems to me what the Longitude is. And that’s exactly what I’m looking for.
It’s a great plane. My only gripe with it is the constant landing gear warning. Whenever you descend (or the autopilot does) and the throttle is pulled back to idle, the warning goes off and doesn’t stop. It’s annoying in an otherwise great aircraft.
Yeah you definitely make some good points as the CRJ and CJ4 are basically within that same class even if it were a better model (not saying it is).
Imagine where I am at as, I have no 330, 787, CRJ etc. I am just torn between either upgrading to where you get every Aircraft or just continue to hold off until the likes of titles like the Maddog MD-80 or the PMDG 737 come out.
We DEFINITELY need some small to mid sized passenger fanjets for sure!
I bought premium deluxe just for the Longitude because I loved the Gulfstream when I used XP. I fly it exclusively, unless I want to do a little VFR sightseeing and drag out a prop job for a spin. I have loved the Longitude since I added the Dakfly and 3000 mods as others have suggested. I tried the CJ4 first, but found it less “sleek” if that makes sense. I don’t intend to start a debate, but I believe if you get the Longitude then you must have those two mods as well - especially Dakfly’s. Don’t fly the stock version or you will have an unpleasant experience. His mod has over 75k downloads, so that has to tell you something.
Sorry to hear that. It must be the default model causing that because I only hear that warning when I go full flaps and the landing gear is not lowered. I’ve dropped to idle many times and not heard it.
In the default version, whenever the throttle is idle but the landing gear is not down, you continuously hear the callout. So basically you hear “landing gear, landing gear” all the way during the descent phase. This is why I don’t use this plane, otherwise I would love it.
I previously spent most of my time flying the CJ4 WT, loved it and still do. I upgraded to the Deluxe version primarily for the Longitude, and it’s also a great aircraft. Once the fix some of the Flight Planner issues (link below) and add true VNAV beyond “advisory”, it’ll be almost perfect. I think the Autothrottle is my favorite feature, along with better map displays than the CJ4. (As others stated, definitely get the G3000/5000 WT and the Dakfly Flight Dynamics mod.)
And you will get the lovely Baron too…..
Longitude is great, very few flaws so far, most missing is the cabin, there is just an empty hull behind the cockpit. And what an nice cabin it could be…..
