Titanic Simulator 2024

And do you have any ETA of resolving problem? Nearly 5 hours of problems is little annyoing… Queue should save your services protect, but after queue is “Error: Server issue detected.”… I must to say it is little disappointment for this price of sim. It is not really good start (problems started very soon after release, very soon). I will hold finger crossed.

WELCOME to the wonderful world of MSFS 2024

I tested with a VPN, the problem remains the same

Same here. I go way back to the Sublogic Flight Simulator. I saw this coming. But everytime I mentioned it here I was jumped on. I am sorry for those of you having issues. But I have been through so much popcorn reading the forums today. I will not be buying MSFS2024.

They are cold as ice, they are not working,

SeedyL3205 - I get that you’re in front of a large number of frankly frustrated people, so I’ll put this as gently as I can.

This isn’t on you guys who are wheeled out to put out statements like that - ‘actively working’ is a piece of community double speak - what is ‘passively working’ after all?

After 5 hours where’s your banner message updating with a latest timestamp?
Where’s the ETA on normal service?
Where’s the statement from the public faces who lead MSFS2024 dev to support you all in giving something for you to point at?

It’s not like these issues were not anticipated - I remember the 2020 go live as an honorary Kiribatian, and even then it was slow going. This is an order of magnitude worse.

First - start download 15 minutes after it was available.
12Gb no problems.
Then an hour to get to 97%
Restarted as we were advised on Twitter
Another hour lost.
Restarted again from 97%
Now stuck in a queue with my ears bleeding on a music loop with GPU utilisation playing a launch day video.

Giving up for the night - I really wanted this to go smoothly and hoped lessons from last time had been learned. Sad to see nothing seems to have been.

Senior management have egg on their faces for this and need to grip the problem and once done Apologise meaningfully

The issue is not that MS did not know that there would be a big demand. Thats something they knew from the last launch, and from preorder numbers etc.

So why wouldn’t they provide enough server capacity? The answer is that its not their goal. Its a company. Did they get your money? yes they did! They have achieved their goal.

Reduce the quantity of servers you have = reduce your cost = increase profit = increase shareholder value.
Users then will stop playing it, or try again later (spread the server load), which will then keep the cost for running the servers down since less players = less servers = less cost.

Will people return the game? probably not, and if then only a few people (if they can, unless they tried so long that Steam doesn’t refund because of the time that has passed).

Microsoft has issues releasing software updates or software to ENTERPRISE level software and cloud services due to bad (or sometimes non existent?) QA.
If they don’t care enough to do decent QA for enterprise level software, do you think they care about QA in a Video Game?
I don’t.

This is an issue in all kinds of (mostly shareholder owned) companies nowadays. Companies used to want to create a GOOD product. Now that everything revolves around shareholders, the goal is increasing shareholder value, not value for the customer, and you do that by underspec’ing a product, or service and calculate how many people you loose by doing that vs how much money you save by doing that.
Similar to fines that companies need to pay if they dont follow the law. It can cost them 1,000,000$ in fines, but if they save 1,000,001$ by doing it, you can bet that they will do it. They increased profit by 1$ after all.

Thanks for completely removing my excitement for this game, Microsoft……

I cannot speak for any other country than Germany, but here the revocation and thus a refund is of course possible as long as the seller (MS) did not hand over a working digital copy to the buyer (you). Which is not the case. This game is not working.

Europe has better customer protection laws, and I still think that a lot of companies still care about quality, or at least done sacrifice it at all cost. That ship has sailed in the US i feel, at least from my daily experience as a German living in the US.

I had the “you are in a queue” page but how do you get out of it? I chose to do a 3 finger salute. This situation is rediculous.

This is totally unbelievable: after paying €80 at the MS Store, and after three hours of waiting, I couldn’t even start MSFS 2024! I understand that there are boot jams, but three hours without response (and more)? If you can’t even cope with the basic startup of the program, maybe you should question your way of selling it. I miss the good old DVDs…

I’d say they’ve done just that.

Seriously though, it’s no big deal, it’s not the end of the world. Just remember that just like MSFS 2020 it will be about another 6 months before things are running the way some here expected it to be on day 1.

Top of the range computers.

Most people won’t have purchaesd it yet as they foresaw what was going to happen. We lived through the 2020 launch and remember the XBox users weren’t even in on that. What we are seeing today is a large number of customers caught up in the hype, expecting the world and being disappointed. Many of those shouting the loudest won’t be here for the long haul thereby reducing ongoing server load. At least I hope that is the case because if the servers can’t cope with a continuous high load now that the data is being streamed off the cloud then we are in a bit of bother.

4 years of poorly released Sim & World updates that caused bugs and issues, bugs & issues from years ago that still exist today because it’s very poor quality assurance.

No beta testing period for this title, only the one tech alpha to stress test servers and not more, it’s obvious where the issues lie - bad management.

We warned you, we told you, we’ve screamed for fixes to past issues and yet again ignored, no lessons learnt, not good enough.

I’m sitting here at 2:59pm PST and I’ve been sitting at the screen for half an hour at 0%.

$200 for this. . .

I have been waiting for more than 6 hours for the download, what they do is shameful, the same thing happened with msfs2020 and it happens again, it is very shameful for a company of such global magnitude that they do not have the ability to anticipate, learn and correct past mistakes

I’ll just keep sailing along. When I reach the destination I’ll be grateful I’ve weathered the storms and high seas along the way.

In my 65 years I’ve learned to manage my emotional reactions and take things easy. I’ve been around too long, and seen too much to let myself freak out about something as trivial as a lack of immediate gratification.

It’s not the end of the world, people.
