You’re right … But I am just concerned about never getting to use MSFS2024 before the impending Nuclear Holocaust ! Afterall, we’ve been waiting on that for 50 years now …
More than that, started in 1946 just as ww2 finished, the race to get the most up to date science and tech.
I had good hopes for this but seeing all the angry users and queues to be able to use something you paid money for, I’m staying with MSFS 2020.
If that ends up deprecated after time then I’ll just stop with flight sims.
Fortunately I didn’t buy anything so far.
What would have been nice was just technical improvements without being tied to the cloud.
Microsoft and its announced tragedy! After 4 years with a simulator full of bugs and performance problems, not to mention the times I didn’t go beyond that screen to search for updates! And other problems that 2020 has such as CPU bottleneck, the bad fog that destroys the FPS among other problems. Now the 2024 launched in a hurry without a public beta, because they are late and there would be no time to launch in 2024, which would be ugly for the marketing to launch the 2024 simulator in 2025, right!? But ■■■■ the quality! Let’s put it up for sale that there are those who buy and that’s how they did it! Tragedy announced, but who cares about the after-sales!? They already have the money in their pockets, don’t they!? “People don’t worry, we have 4 new years to solve what we promised in 2020, so sit down and relax” to make matters worse, they promised a lot of things, however, they didn’t even deliver 80%, examples of this? Where is FSR3? Funny that a game optimized for AMD doesn’t have AMD’s tools for FG!? What about DLSS!!? Why wasn’t it updated natively to 3.8? Is it still in 2.4!? This launch is so disastrous to unimaginable levels that I suspect that there is seriousness in it. Look! Starting with the amount charged for SIM, it’s absurd! Make you pay for what you already have 2 times there are no discounts if the guy has a version of the 2020 Premium Deluxe and gets the Premium Deluxe of 2024 he is paying 2x for the same content, not to mention the content migration policy that is poorly explained and each one says one thing! And not enough in these last few days they invented a new way to get you money, the ADDONS. Compatible etc…pure SCAM face!! Paying for addons 2 times that doesn’t make sense! Unfortunately, Flight Simulator became a Pay to Win mobile game. 2020 was the bait, we fell into it and now we are forced to change to this new policy because they will not maintain the 2020 servers for more than 1 year they will force you to migrate anyway, after all, business is business. Community we need to wake up and not let it get worse, this toy is expensive and we deserve excellence in product support and delivery. 2024 managed to overcome CyberPunk in the disastrous debut! In addition to turning the franchise into a console game, they still give us this poorly finished thing! But in the end it’s our fault to finance it! This is the problem when people worship companies. Fanboy is the cancer of the market! We must be critical in everything we buy because it costs us money and it takes a lot of work to get it. Microsoft you are once again killing the MSFS franchise as you did in 2004 when it passed that buggy and disastrous thing to FSX! Sad!
Easy for you to say. I’m in my 70’s and don’t even buy green bananas anymore. Waiting for this garbage to be fixed may not be an option. ![]()

I’m 65 and carefully buy only by two bananas, when firm. There is a 3 day window when they ripen and perform as expected…
I just love the title of this topic - satire at its best. MSFS 2024 has been uninstalled to save my sanity regarding the crash 32s after starting. When Asobo say they have a new build I’ll have another try.
Even after loading into the game after 15 hours London looks like it has been nuked, I am flying with a red man sticking out my F18 if I am lucky to get into free flight at all.
Or they just kill the franchise again, like with the original series or MSFlight.
Not saying that should inform anyone’s decision to ask for a refund. But it is a real possibility. Google kills products all the time.
I’m surprised to see people retconning the 2020 launch into anything resembling a good experience. It was the same thing. A huge lift they should have foreseen and server infrastructure with its pants around its ankles.
I must have attempted that 91gb download fifteen times before it all came down right…only to have it crash-to-desktop for months thereafter.
So they love giving promotion interviews but never want to reply on core issues on forums..
GG
A ‘Heads up’.
MSFS 2020 users are suffering too.
Scenery slow to download or not being sent at all.
Patches of grey concrete 1/2 mile square where fields should be.
It is getting worse.
How is your nation’s laws on Internet Purchases.
UK, 14 days for a full refund if not satisfied.
It is Day 2.
Except that Steam has been reported as taking the pre-order time as part of this…
And this is yet another reason to never preorder. Anything.
If I had preordered the $200 version but had to go through whatever MSFS2024 users are going through right now, I’d have called the police.
ps: there are zero signs that any of the current issues will go away in the next few days or after a couple of updates. By all looks this’ll take at least half a year (if not more) to bring it to the current 2020 level.
Guys, hang on here. I don’t think that Asobo expected so many avid flight simmers to try to download MSFS2024 at one time.
I heard a figure that there are some 15 million users world wide (think it was Overkill) and probably everybody wants the new sim straight away.
Yes, I agree it is a ballsup at the moment and that is a reason why I personally am waiting till it all dies down, giving it a week or so before having a bash.
This will also give me the chance to watch the youtuber videos and scope any issues and problems.
The word of the day is PATIENCE.
Happy simming to all.
The problem Asobo face is that people are angry and rightly so. ‘Words’ are cheap - action is not. These issues need to be logged, tracked, actioned, with eta’s etc for full visibility. A daily or twice daily update is probably not even enough now.
I hate real time as a concept but frankly that’s what I want now to have confidence that this will get sorted, and soon. I’m worried that the basic principles (streaming everything) is built upon just can’t handle it.
Add to that as a UK player - after 24 hours of not being able to get to the main menu, I’ve bought a VPN so I can play at all - that’s just not acceptable.
I feel for the developers, I really do - but people are angry, upset and need to vent. A lot of the issues are fairly obvious in hindsight and could have been mitigated further against.
If we have patience and just let Asobo fix things as fast as they can - then yes, it may come good - but crucially - it may not. Pressure is needed and pressure is right to fix things ‘faster’.
I’m sure the developers are as upset as many are - and I would hate to be the one responsible for the services that went down (if you ever read this - it’s not on you, you did your best), but Asobo and MS leadership need to be aware in no uncertain terms that this. is. not. acceptable.
I’m not going to refund as I’m sure I will just end up repurchasing it - but there needs to be some form of mea culpa and recompense provided. I’m out and extra £30 to just be able to play as I need a VPN just to load the ■■■■■■ sim.
Which is nonsense. The clock should start when they charge your card.
I and you can be sure that it will be fixed. Yes the proverbial hit the fan, however, with the number of people being impatient to get their hands on the new iteration of the sim, I don’t think that Asobo was really prepared for the massive load on the servers.
Hence, as I said before I am waiting a week or so till things quieten down a bit and Asobo have a chance to rectify issues that may arise with the sim. You can bet that they will be running around like headless chooks to get matters sorted.
Not having a go at you but, everybody needs to understand that problems will arise with such a popular simulator.
Hope ypu get to enjoy the new sim sooner than later.
Well I had two great flights today and wonder of wonders everything worked, both in 2D and VR. I’m in Australia on the Asia/Pacific servers and when they work it all looks and behaves very well.
We’ve heard this a billion times during msfs 2020. Hence why everyone is livid. We’re tired of half baked sim that they charge full price for. It’s a slap in the face.
So with all due, patience isn’t the issue. Competence is.
