To the most vocal community members: I am … confused

I know some of these server side technologies are used to activate features remotely in the game for different populations of users, but only MSFT knows whether some of us might be running or not the same “code variants”. However it is clear the game relies on this technology and services, they are deeply rooted, and it wouldn’t make any sense to me not using it for what it is meant for: maximizing retention and market place sales.

The Wishlist is here:

The bugs are split across various groups so more difficult to collate, but a dev update is published every Thursday, so we should be seeing a new one a few hours from now.

The current one is here:

What I would do is go to “Community/News and Announcements”, and click the bell at the top right, and set it to “Watching”.

Thank you for the insight.

Very interesting especially since it is an area I know very little about :slightly_smiling_face::slightly_smiling_face:

This is not just a “pretty” sim. It’s technological showcase.. No sim or game has ever done what Msfs2020 is doing right now. And it’s even crossplatform, which is a real achievement per se. It’s even currently being worked on, so that it can be streamed to the Xbox one. You don’t really seem to see the value in all these things, they do matter.

Thanks for that update…and yes, I did miss that huge list..somehow.
..
Edit: I realize how I missed a “Voting” list…
It is Buried under “Self Service” … For something that is suppose to help the developers get a sense of what is important to us, one would think a more prominent position on the roster of “Stuff” would be beneficial. It makes me feel that they are not “that” interested in our “importance list” as they claim to be. It probably comes down to the reality of corporate $$$ agenda.

A, A, A, A, A, A, A….Flight Simulator.

If there is something that annoys me more than negativity about a game then that is threads where someone tries to assign blame to people who vent criticism about things that currently don’t bother him.

Negativity is always part of the world, you can supress it, you can ignore it but not shame it into submission.

Sometimes I shake my head in awe that we can drive cars and sail ships in the sim, see animals and hear nature sounds, but we can’t get improvements to the visual world we’re in, realistic weather or IFR flying to work properly across the board yet.

After a year, the sim really doesn’t LOOK that much different than it did on day one. That bugs me. Everything is an idea or a WIP or a plan.

Airport night lighting is goofy. Storm clouds still look like volcanic ash. Blurry textures. No progress on Photogrammetry. Green imagery in all the wrong places. Working weather radar? Eeeh, depends on what you fly. Lightning where there are no storms. Still working on traffic models. Still.

Eye candy is important in flying. For VFR, the sim is great. Go above 10000, and the luster wears off. I’m very underwhelmed with the sim when we compare reality to what we were sold in the run-up to release.

So, yeah, I come here to complain, mainly out of respect for the developers because I don’t want to showcase the stuff I don’t like on Youtube.

Shouldn’t they first start fixing this beta version and the things they promised or showcased before going into trains?

If votes automatically bumped threads, I think we’d have seen a very different result.

As it is, I’m not sure if the mods here classify it as spam these days, but I feel that the act of “bumping” a thread shouldn’t be something that’s frowned upon in a voting forum.

Furthermore - when a duplicate voting thread is closed, it seems that all those original votes are lost. Unless someone can correct me on this?

Flagged for negativity and insults. Ridiculous post.

Jummivana just wrote somewhere that they had been able to fix this behaviour. So they were aware and fixed it.

Here’s her post:

The only thing the OP is trying to say here, is that the wishlist and Q.A. items do not reflect the forum’s “emotional state” at this moment.

Well, teach people how to do it then, forum is for support, right? Create engagement, that’s how it works.

But, even when it’s the minority, or the majority. A voting system is a form of truth (please let conspiracy out of this). And in this case, it reflects what people want. If it’s not up to one’s liking, then vote. If you don’t vote, you are joining the reason it is not reflecting what is believed should be important.

I’m agreeing with op, that the biggest tendency on the forum is mostly pointing to realism, yet, the whishlist does not reflect this. The first item pointing to some sort of realism is, and is not even reflecting flight dynamics, “Remove ground vehicles from active taxiways” at the 13th position, with half of for example multiple screens.

The tendency of the whishlist is the feeling of the visual immersion above realism. It is leaning more on the look then the feel. For some it’s shallow, for others it’s immersive.

Are the realism chasers in the minority? Well, i don’t know. The whishlist does. Unless, voting does not matter, right?

So, advocate your cause create some engagement, it’s a community, you do things together. Blame together, complain together, agreeing together. Why not voting on improvements you feel are a necessity?

Well, I think the majority knows, despite all kind of claims and all those forum posts, it probably will.

My 1 cents.

P.S.

There you opened up a can of worms

“Cross platform” isn’t anything new. WarThunder is cross platform*. Loads (in fact probably most) titles have been cross platform for quite some time with the absolute exception of platform exclusives which the likes of Microsoft and Sony like to keep exclusive to the platform until a while after the initial buzz has faded.

*WarThunder is in fact truly “cross platform” as it’s available for PlayStation, MacOS and Linux also.

One question. Once you strip away the streamed visuals does the framework that’s left underneath stand up on its own as a flight sim when compared to its competition or is it actually missing important elements that would make it pale in comparison?

Isn’t playstation OS a fork of FreeBSD, like macOs has parts (Free/Net) with large similarities of a [number] of linux distro’s ? Unless i’m wroing here, it ain’t truly cross platform as of underlying OS’es.

True.

Also:
There is only one way to ask for “Cirrus clouds” or “Press any key”
Straightforward items are going to get more votes, it’s logical.

Some of the other questions could easily be merged, and tallied votes would then show a fairly different picture, imho.

Being a rookie and all, I asked a question about the project inner workings in the Q&A.
I was surprised to see a lot of the other topics looked like a wish list.
Nothing wrong with a wish list, just did not expect that.

I have no idea really. But if we are discussing OS as platform wouldn’t that result in WarThunder still actually being truly cross platform (windows and Linux support) and MSFS2020 not actually being cross platform at all assuming it’s base OS is some MS/Windows hybrid?

You are right, my bad, sorry! Didn’t know it was also win

Is the forum sometimes bugged? it didn’t show i was replying to @somethingbrite

The cirrus clouds, the 2 last Q@A did not made it. Many of Q@A answered most others topic. The Q@A I see more like “what is the status of the progress” there is not much new things to know or to add from all previous question, most have been covered already, just play previous Q@A.

Don’t focus on that aspect alone, also keep in mind the rest I wrote. If you can’t admit that this title and the concotion of technologies is somehing seriously impressive and important on many levels for a company, then I can’t really add anything more to the discussion. Again, nothing like this has ever been done with that scope and level of fidelity. It wouldn’t have been feasible without mixing the various technologies together, and there was a ton of vision behind this whole thing. Those are things that matter for a company, it’s something to be proud of.
