The only known fix here is to use the developer mode to adjust different parameters that are not retained between launches of the sim.
(I do not recall marking this thread “solved”, however I have unmarked it, because it is not solved. It has a klugy workaround.)
Ok this is concerning, this way none of the flights would get tracked anymore, beside the additional hassle
Thx for your heads up
Well, I think you could enable dev mode, start a flight, make the adjustment, leave dev mode and start a new flight, which would be tracked.
(It’s concerning this isn’t even marked bug-logged yet.)
Indeed!
Have you tried to modify the XML file, as we had to do after release of the Sim?
Good question and thought.
No, I haven’t even looked at it since this new SDK was implemented.
I had marked @rottenbk post with the solution mark (in conjunction with the workaround tag) not to indicate the issue was fixed but to indicate their post was the workaround so that users can identify it quickly without having to go through all the 68 posts (so far) to find it. (should have indicated those updates
).
Got it.
Does doing this, though, cause the CMs/development team to treat the issue differently?
In other words, do they consider the issue somewhat resolved and, therefore, deprioritize it, or worse?
Again, I am surprised it remains feedback-logged seeing as we have clearly described and identified an issue, identified what anyone can do to see how the issue manifests itself with changes via dev mode, and yet…
Mods don’t have contact with the devs so I don’t know what is their approach when seeing a workaround tag & a solution mark (since there is no other way to point to a specific post) pointing to it but IMO it should not change the priority of the fix. No issue if the solution mark is not added.
For the ones reading this post, the workaround is located here: Tobii Headtracking Responsiveness is "Lazy" - #50 by rottenbk
You can make the adjustment as soon as you load into the main MSFS screen. Once it’s made it seems to stay for as long as MSFS is running. Pretty sure you can exit dev mode as well.
But when you quit MSFS you’ll have to repeat the process next time.
The head tracking responsiveness value isn’t held in the tobii.xml file (I believe that’s the one you’re talking about?) so you are unable to adjust it there. That xml file is basically what you see in the settings menu in-game.
It will up to the devs to expose this variable to the settings menu (and then it will get recorded in the xml)
If they add this value into the Tobii controls settings, it will solve the issue.
Let me just quote NixonRedgrave:
I do have the feeling that SU5 will be released around the Dev Stream. This might indicate we have to live with it at least until SU6.
this is not the case.
It’ll probably never be marked as a bug, they’ll treat this as a feature request, and we will have to live with this for many builds to come
. I hope I’m wrong.
You think ? Its seems like such a small CR that should take them very short time.
This topic has now been updated from feedback-logged to bug-logged after successful internal reproductions. Please note that we do not provide estimated timelines for bug fixes to be released.
Thanks for helping us to identify this issue by creating a Bug Report.
Great news, please do not release SU5 without this fix. I rather stick with what we have - working - right now instead of using the Dev-mode workaround for the next 5-6 month.
Hi folks,
This should now be resolved in the latest beta build (1.7.21.0) released just now. Please test this out and confirm it’s working properly.
- Following community feedback, fixed Tobii default parameters for Rotation Responsiveness and Camera Boost.
Thanks,
MSFS Team
Thank the crew back at HQ for this.
Really.
It will be appreciated.
(I haven’t tested yet, FYI)
Lol, so my spidey sense tingled when the release notes said “..fixed default parameters…”
Lo and behold: no adjustment slider, just the default has been upped from 0.5 to 1.0!
I mean…I guess that works for me (I actually liked it around 0.85 or so) but others have preferred a different setting entirely!
EDIT: After a quick fiddle with the settings, it seems like Camera Boost Ratio will control how “twitchy” the camera movement might be. I’m still a bit confused why Head Tracking Responsiveness wasn’t made to be a user-facing adjustment but speaking for myself I think I can work with the Tobii settings in SU5.
Thank you to all who participated in this thread.
