Absolutely - be my guest!
BTW, @norwaydev8116 Iāve had a wishlist for incorrect runway/approach/VGSI lighting going for over two years. Iām asking for it to be turned into a bug report. Itās a little different than this one - more about wrong types of lights versus poor effects.
But airport lighting (particularly in the US) is my jam, so if you have any questions, need resources, history, etc, Iāve got a ton.
Feel the same. Iāve been a FS user for over 30 years. This being a daytime only sim is infuriating.
This reminds me of the clouds, trees everywhere, VR, etc topics.
I think some parts of night lighting in 24 have improved but airport and sepia lighting remain an annoyance to the enthusiasts among us.
Its frustrating but from the posture of 2020 through now to 24, it seems obvious that the product is there to earn money from the masses, not a few shillings from the enthusiast (even though the enthusiast spends more on 3rd party addons and hardware by a huge multiple, I could wager)
They are balancing between gamers and enthusiasts, and I understand it is difficult. The Milky Way? Totally a gamers design choice. I donāt hate it, I think its prettier to look at than black sky.
On the other hand, this is totally unacceptable. Gamerās canāt find the runway in the sea of taxi lights.
Fix the runway lights, kill the sepia glowing and I am a happy camper.
I wonder if they need the Sepia glow in order to get the effect of city lights below the cloudsā¦
Again, thatās because the third-party dev who designed that airport manually placed the taxiway lights in the exact right places using the light row object versus letting the AI generate them (which it does very badly). Itās the best way to do it, but now itās producing an unexpected result because the light row object wasnāt tested (or noticed during testing). This should be a really simple fix.
Iām definitely finding that when flying at night everything looks overly bright and foggyā¦kind of like what it looks like when you have an HDR/SDR mismatch between your game and monitor.
Crazy how night lighting has only gotten worse since the first tech alphas back in 2020.
It was easy, they just had to doā¦nothing
Beautiful, just beautiful, makes me want to fly ā¦ so ā¦ much
great job msobo.
i also love how you have merged and removed settings, giving us less options to fix your amazing quality product. even though we asked for the opposite.
cant wait for your next updates of high resolution squirrels, dandelions and pebbles, and dont forget more missions and game-gimmicks.
on a less sarcastic note, how are you not pumping out hotfixes every day?
Im amazed you are allowed to even sell this.
I was wondering the same thing also - the aircraft interior lighting is way over blown - canāt even look at it
Wonder why its like this and nobody else has mentioned this yet
Would be great with more info added
Yeah the early 2020 Tech Alpha lights as shown in early trailers and screenshots wouldāve been an amazing foundation to build / improve in, instead of wasting 4 years of sepia downgrade and slow improvements, and downgrade again with the release of 2024, still inferior in many ways compared to what we had in late 2019 (TA 1)ā¦
I want to file a bug on this because Iāve talked about it elsewhere but Iām not sure exactly what to report. I donāt think itās aircraft specific. It also seems to happen for me at dawn and dusk when day transitions to night,
For example hereās the Zlin Norden.
It actually looks fine for most of the night, like midnight - 7 AM. Then thereās a definite trigger point, in this case 7:44 AM local time, where the bloom goes over the top.
7:43 AM
7:44 AM (1 minute later)
It looks normal during the daytime
Then comes back at dusk

Interesting thanks for sharing - not a big deal as Iām a Fenix flyer but thought why is the bloom so much - I dont use HDR
100% on this! Iāve been complaining about night lighting since DAY 1
Just did my first night flight in MSFS 2024. Took the Fenix A-319 up to FL 370ā¦well, what a disappointment. It seems we have regressed back to early MSFS 2020 if not worse! Why are we back to having a sepia mask only a few miles from the aircraft?? It took at least a year to get this right in 2020 with it being tied more to Terrain LOD sliderā¦now we are back to the same problem!! Also, in general, the night lights look like FSXā¦just more dense. Not sure what has happened here but the sea of orange and yellow lights without variation just looks bad. This is on top of the terrible airport lightingā¦I mean, I am at a loss to be honest. Really hard to believe this passed testing for final release. Looks like night flights will be done in MSFS 2020 going forward until this is fixed.
Absolutely concur about the bloom around the lights. Not knowing this thread was a thing, I did my own yesterday.
After a two and a half hour flight fighting various bugs and tryung to operate things that plain did not work, I landed in a slight haze.
Visibility at least five miles and more likely eight miles. On touchdown I was confronted with lines of green, white and blue, blindingly bright balloons at least three feet in diameter.
It looked absolutely stupid. You could easily see the airport from twenty five miles away and i would wager, from the ISS. Typically, at any point of that night flight I could see at least three major aiports lit up in the distance.
Also, not every road IRL is illuminated. In and around populated places, sure, but a road in the middle of nowhere, or a highway away from any gas stations, interchanges etc. shouldnāt be lit up like it is now.
I agree 100%.
Could not agree more with your post.
Thank you for that!
Fix that Asobo, please
