Top Gun Escort

That’s just life in general IMHO

ANYTHING can be a potential source of annoyance when people are involved.

Just gotta work around it I guess.

Cheers. :beer_mug:

Hmz, could you make that mod for the Darkstar and the Halo Pelican and share them on flightsim.to?

yup wise words. :ok_hand:t2:

I’m a bit late to the party, but I thought I’d mention that there’s PilotEdge. It costs a fair bit of money and their coverage is only in the western US, but I think I’ll give it a try in the fall when the weather turns bad and I’m forced back inside. Vatsim is great for IFR, but in my experience they don’t really know what to do with VFR traffic. From the advertising, it sounds like PilotEdge may fill that gap. Anyone have any experience with it?

Yeah but I don’t want to be restricted to one area. Btw VFR on vatsim in Europe at least seems fine. A lot of controllers seem even excited for a bit of change.

Tbh I don’t even need ATC nessesarily for vfr. Just other players that behave somewhat realistic. I don’t mind if you make a mistake or aren’t 100% by the book, just try. But that isn’t what’s happening in MP so it’s unusable as far as I’m concerned and ai traffic it is.

Maybe there could be 2 servers, one free for all. And one where you promise to behave, that’s limited to certain aircraft. If you misbehave others can report you and once you reached a threshold your blocked off of the serious server for a month or so. I don’t know, details to be worked out.

I don’t think a lot of thought was put into anything MP related. It’s just there.

Just look at Reno for a perfect example. They put all that work into a competitive online racing mode with leaderboards without a hint of any anti-cheat, then had the shocked Pikachu face when on the first day, people were finding exploits and cheating. Outside of closed groups, Reno is already pretty much dead as a result.

How much is this even a thing?! Have never been buzzed in my mailplane and everyone I try to buzz gets away! :worried:

Will be on the CAM5 airway if anyone wants to upset my mail run…

PilotEdge is a training tool meant for real-world training. Pilots are held to a much higher expectation than they are on VATSIM, so this wouldn’t be the right choice for OP.

Sadly war glorification is now part of the game.

So lets pity this unfortunate „hero‘s“. Mankind’s stupidity is truly bottomless.

“War glorification”? Utterly ridiculous. It’s a flight simulator mate. I mean what next? Mass protests against “Call of Duty” and “DCS World”?

When You play dcs or whatever else war game you know what you are in and that it is about killing or to be killed. Its your free decision.

Msfs is a flightsimulator for everyone and when someone wants to fly peaceful with his Kodiak there is for shure no reason to be „escorted“ by three fighter jets.

If these sparetime mavericks have fun on flying fighter jets, my oh, its ok, but please leave those who dont alone.

Thank you!

It’s great fun flying the F/A-18! I don’t think about weapons or war when I’m doing valley runs in the Pacific Northwest in it

And I’d love to be escorted by fighter jets when I’m buzzing around in the C172 :slightly_smiling_face:

PilotEdge is what I thought of when I read the OP. Ignoring/muting players or aircraft types sounds like a losing battle to me. I was buzzed by airliners just as much as anything else the few times I had MP turned on. In the end, it boils down to wanting to “play in the sandbox” (Multiplayer On), or wanting to “fly for real”. And if it’s the latter, I highly recommend a network like PilotEdge. There are introductory lessons for it, video tutorials, and free trials. I haven’t done anything in the sim more realistic or rewarding than their challenges and fly-ins. Stoked for virtual AirVenture next month.

Maybe the F-18s were the realistic ones, escorting the Kodiak for blowing the TFR. Check your NOTAMs people!

But seriously, it’s not really a “fighter jet” if it can’t fight, now is it? Despite the name, the sim F-18 is just a fast jet. Flying close to other people isn’t “war”. You can “Maverick” to the same effect in the Citation or Bonanza if you really want.

You can turn it left or right, up or down, this aircraft is not made to deliver love letters with heart stickers, this aircraft is made to deliver death and destruction.

As I previously mentioned I love being buzzed / checked out by fighters or anything frankly,I would also like to see a group of fighters do ultra close formation flying which I used to watch regularly at Coningsby UK.Fighters being refueled inflight by tankers would also be good to go up and take a look , it all adds to the joy of the sim for me.

I don’t wish to be forced to go DCS etc to see such things so as not to hurt the feelings of the anti war users,I am anti war but I don’t think 'war ’ when I see an F18 buzzing the tower at KLAX😎

And this is the part I don’t get. If you want to fly “peacefully”, why would you need to enable multiplayer? You can’t have it both ways mate.

Guilty! lol

  • No actual airlines or pilots nor there crew or passengers were hurt in the filming of these episodes .

“THe horror….the horror…”. :winking_face_with_tongue:

I forgot to add “guns guns guns”. LOL

You don’t “need” to turn it on. But if people would behave or at least try to learn it would add realism to see other pilots perform touch and gos or whatever. Even without ATC, even better if they enabled shared AI ATC.

But because of the meme crowd we can’t have nice things. It’s all loopidy loops and scifi ships and fly as close to you as possible and block the runway. Half of them don’t care the other half actively want to annoy others for a laugh.

But hey, it’s all about that short time satisfaction of the Xbox gamers. So none of this will change.
