Two Spitfires incoming?

This has been a very expensive week for me with the Orbx sale and the huge Carenado sale.

10 aircraft (6 Carenado for P3D, 1 Just Flight for P3D, 2 for MSFS, 1 Maddog for P3D), 8 Orbx regions for P3D, plus the Garmin GNS530 and Garmin GNS 430 for P3D. That’s the haul this week.

It will be interesting to see how it turns out when it’s finally released, but I will say that the preview video doesn’t get me very excited. FlyingIron set the bar for the spitfire in most areas and while the exterior model looks very nice the cockpit is decidedly ā€œlast-genā€ looking both in the pretty severely simplified 3d geometry and sadly seemingly very low res textures. Flying Iron didn’t leave the door very wide open for other devs to surpass them in any area besides perhaps some deeper systems modeling. However for me, the AH Spitfire would need to really out-do FlyingIron by quite a bit in that regard to make up for the underwhelming visuals.

I am likely not alone in suggesting that I’m not super keen on buying ANOTHER spit, especially if it isn’t as nice as the one I already have. I’ll wait on reviews before passing judgement, but this is shaping up to be a pretty easy $30-$60 saved on my end.

another thing to note is the aeroplane heaven spit is the mark 1b with 3 blade prop so its first gen spitfires whereas the flying iron is probably the definitive mark in the mark 9 and would have slight differences in cockpit to the mk 1 whereas i dont know which mark A2A are doing but for pure popularity i would guess at the mark 5 which is the missing mainstream spit which would have a lot of colour scheme options and perform differently enough to both other marks in or coming to sim

A2A’s is Mk 2.

means it will be a straight fight for sales then versus the aeroplane heaven one with them being such similar performance in most respects , flying irons is definately the outlaw speedster of the three with it being much later in the war

i like my mark 9 as its here its flying and its fast … plus the green/brown camo never grew on me and i was stationed at coningsby watching the raf bbmf flying daily with all different liveries on their fleet of spits

Ah I read that convo a while back… I must admit their general attitude in their reply to you and one or two others really put me off.

I think I’ll most likely end up going with the flying iron spit at some point, I prefer the later mark anyway personally.

How’s the sound? The review of the MSFS one I saw wasn’t particularly positive, and their previous effort with the sound from the X-Plane one was just an insult.

The sound is AWESOME!

I really like the sound too. It’s the best sounding WWII plane in the sim so far. @anon28099226 tells all the time it sounds like his lawnmower but I think he has either a pretty beefy lawnmower or pretty small speakers. Everyone else seem to like the sound. I’ve got the feeling it will still sound better than the AH Spitfire on its release. It’s just a guess based on a few preview vids but i think the Corsair will sound even better (different engine, I know). It will cost much more of course.

They are also making mk. Vb. The trailer shows that one.

Because I own Flying Iron Spitfire, for me Aeroplane Heaven Spit would have to be wayyy better to justify second Spitfire in my hangar. Not only flight model-wise, but at also visual details would have to be at least on pair with Flying Iron. I’ll wait and see.
