As some people have asked, I have a list of GA/regional fields currently considered for my freeware developments, mostly in California:
- KKIC (Mesa Del Rey - King City)
- KCPU (Calaveras County)
- KPRB (Paso Robles)
- O22 (Columbia)
- S21 (Sunriver)*
- KUKI (Ukiah)
- KAUN (Auburn)*
- KLSN (Los Banos)
- KMCE (Merced - Yosemite Regional)
- KCCR (Concord Buchanan)*
- KSCK (Stockton Metropolitan)*
I have researched all of the above and the ones with asterisk will only be possible if I can continue to get good resources. I am also still slowly chipping away at KNUQ (Moffett Field), awaiting further sources for that one too.

Eager to see your KCCR and KMCE. Was interested to build it myself but lack of time and the size of these airports put it on hold. It’s the two on your list that are in my logbook and not covered by a handcrafted MSFS freeware/payware.

Can’t wait for Columbia! Such beautiful airport, somewhat difficult approach, and a Cal Fire base.

Would love to see a good Auburn. I revamped it (and many other NorCal airports) in the World Hub, getting it much closer to reality than it was in the stock scenery, but the WH is very limited in scope, no buildings, etc.
It’d be great to see the yellow gazebo.
Btw, TONS of resources for Auburn - YouTube (they have a live cam), google Earth, etc. Also, the underlying groundwork has been pretty much done for you, mostly just needs buildings and other little things that couldn’t be replicated in the hub.
KPRB is my home field. If you need photos (including repeated trips for additional ones), just let me know. I’ll get whatever I can for you.

I’ll be at Sunriver in July if you need photos then!
I have flown into everything on the list as well, so I hear you!
As WorldHub is still MIA till who knows when, do you still have your KAUN source files? I would be happy to build on top of what has already been done. Redoing aprons and taxiways kind of drives me nuts actually
Photos would be most welcome, thank you! It is pretty difficult to get good views of the structures at S21.

Nope, World Hub uses the base files of the sim and we don’t have access anymore (since it closed). However, the edits that I made are still apparent in the sim currently. So runway and taxiway lights, taxiway names, parking spots, markings, and pavements should be correct (well, to two years ago). Biggest issue by far is buildings and other objects.

Understood thanks, I’ll have a look at some point. When I’m ready to work on it, hopefully you can help get things right!

I’d love to! Thanks for sprucing these up more than we were able to! I have several dozen more recommendations that are well-known, well-used and loved GA airports in NorCal.

Right?
I loaded into KCVH just a moment ago (so far, so good in 2024) and was so glad to see the upgrades.
So much attention is paid to the big airliner side of the sim. It is so great to see people supporting the GA world, too.

The GA side needs support - these high quality sims were made for VFR enjoyment, were they not?
Especially for those of us who can’t do GA IRL anymore for whatever reasons…

Yes! I’m still hoping to get the world hub back so the airports are correct and useable at the fundamental level - for all users (including career mode). But I also support folks doing what you’re doing as a bonus upgrade.

By all means, I am open to ideas. The payware developers like Spinoza are trying to cover larger airports like KCIC, KSAC, KRDD, KHWD etc. I am trying to improve things at the smaller places that are still well-loved, like you said.

I will be able to post a detailed preview of KKIC and KCPU in a separate thread shortly.

KWLW - Nancy’s Airport Cafe is a staple of the $100 $200 hamburger in NorCal.
Any airport in the Gold Country along CA Highway 49 is prime. GOO, AUN, JAQ, CPU, O22, E45, and MPI. Cameron (O61) has a ton of character and is a fly-in community. That one really could use a realism update.
Yeah, a big part of the character at little GA airports are the hangars, on-field restaurants, other businesses (FBOs), and little things like windsocks, wind tees, fences, etc.
Side note - I fly this area all the time in my streams and have flown it many, many times IRL, it’s fantastic for GA.

Vbazillio has already done KMPI actually and it is wonderful! Highly recommend.
I am aware of GOO and JAQ but have never flown there IRL. Will happily research more. O61 as well. I have been to CPU many times, but actually am not familiar with KWLW. That will be a nice addition on the way up to RBL or RDD.
Not sure if you’d even be interested in making it… but it would be cool to recreate the WWII “Vella La Cava” base (from the old Black Sheep Squadron TV show) at the old Indian Dunes Airfield (4CA4) in Valencia, CA, located along the Santa Clara River; It was a dirt airstrip. Some WWII tents, the Sheep Pen shack, some palm trees, some parked Corsairs, a mechanic’s tent, grumpy Sgt Andy Micklin, etc…
