Did MS plan to add DX12 to FSX then, and ended up delaying it?
Of course we are going to be getting it.

Patience, grasshopper. Asobo has A LOT on their plate right now with the upcoming sim update - it’s another major release. There are A LOT of variables to play with without involving DirectX. One MAJOR way to do software development wrong is to change EVERYTHING. Few things at a time, OK? There are lots of performance improvements independent of DirectX that have been talked about by Seb.
Where is the guy seeing dx12 isn’t coming to Xbox?
100% agree with this. Whether we like it or not, the Xbox launch is a total can’t fail launch. And God I hope they get this sim back in working order.
Sorry. I was getting FSX PTSD flashbacks to the old FSX/DirectX saga.
For the yungins here, FSX was directX 9 and patch to 10 was promised…for years. At the very end, it got a some kind of mini dx10, then there was a thing you could buy to make it work, or something. It was all very confusing.
I left the game before that. Maybe someone who stuck around can tell the full story or correct my recollection.
In the end we’ll all get it… That video, there’s your Linux conspiracy ( I run 10th gen i7, I don’t worry…)
That was a different Microsoft then and a different development team altogether. And a different time in flight simulation.
They could just say SU5 had DX12 and no one would know without some detailed poking around with process monitoring/debugging tools! We’ll get it when we get it. Ray tracing was never promised for SU5.
As long as I get big fps improvements from SU5 I’ll be happy!!! Hopefully DX12 will come soon, and hopefully it will bring some performance improvements and if it doesn’t hopefully it will allow future improvements in fps.
It’s a curious thing given the DX12 on the XBox and SU5 supposedly is the “same thing” and because they stated rather matter of factly that DX12 would come to PC the same day as the XBox release. But really, in the big picture, it’s not a big deal. Now, if I get no fps improvement on Jul 27th? THAT would be deeply disappointing, if not just infuriating. But hoping for the best, what else can you do.
Seriously, the first time I took off as the sun came up and flew east into some thick clouds I was dumbfounded, my jaw literally dropped. I probably fly around sunset or sunrise 60% of the time! The cloud lighting and the lighting onto the aircraft are both just gorgeous.
I agree, it surprised me as I always thought they would have beast level rigs running massive 4k ultrawide displays. Its nice to see that they have what average Joe has and so can tweak the game more to squeeze more performance.
How to tell when you’ve spoken the truth? When the same gang shows up immediately as always with the usual responses.
I don’t think they did say that. I think Asobo said one thing, and the hopeful heard another. SU5 <> DX12.
The update would be out for both platforms on the same day, but not DX12.
You under estimate how many TV’s there are and users in this world that want and have the best.
I would not rule it out. Windows 11 with come with DX12Pro.
You have a very similar system to mine.
I wonder if they’ll skip DX13?
am i the only one who as updated to windows 11 as of about two weeks iv’e been on the new windows 11 and when i run dxdiag it states that dx12 is running
That sais nothing. My Windows config sais the same, and my MX-330 cannot run DirectX 12 Ultimate.
Explain: there are two flavours of DirectX 12, you have entry level DirectX 12_1 which can be run on any video board capable of DirectX 11 (current MSFS)
DirectX 12_2 (that is: DirectX Ultimate) that is a different ball game alltogether. On PC, you’d need at least 2060S, or high end AMD for that.
My NVidia MX-330 system info (green tray app) gives more accurate info: Direct3D feature level 12_1
To go from DX-11 to entry level DX-12_1 is already a lot of work for developers. Suppose they haven’t succeeded in getting things ready for all different PC graphics boards, so they postpone the release for us… OR… best case… they release 12_1 entry level and they don’t want to call that a DX-12 release, for marketing reasons, there is no “Ultimate” things in the release. In that case, we will see relevant improvements ! DirectX 12_1 is much more friendly for your CPU than DirectX 11.
No that’s coming from your display driver. You can run DirectX 12 on Windows 7 if you have a recent enough display driver and DirectX 12 compatible card (for nvidia that would be any RTX card).
Congratulations on the update though, hopefully all is good.
You need to include my GTX 1660 TI graphics card.
It runs DirectX 12.1 also.
