Video demonstrating the Live Weather only on 1st flight bug

yes, that true

Personally, I’d take the inaccurate weather over what I have now. I’m not tied to having in sim weather match what’s outside my window 100%. I just want proper, dynamic weather to work on every flight. Accurate is good too, don’t get me wrong. I’d love to have an as close to 100% match to the real world as possible. But I’d happily settle for a weather engine that reliably works after first flight without having to resort to restarting, janky workarounds, or flaky 3rd party apps.

when it happens, it’s the fault of our computers, by their bad configuration, they make the game buggy, as for all the other problems    :innocent:  :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Either that or users are too stupid to tell the different between live weather and live time buttons. :stuck_out_tongue:

yes, so I improved my CTD by increasing the cache to 32 GB but, I didn’t manage to make an IFR flight until the end, I must do something wrong or my computer, twice after a short flight of 1h30/2h, 15 mn from the final approach, paf CTD, I have to do something stupid or be stupid, in my descent, I have to document myself, or else I’d have to reset my computer and change my equipment before each flight, I have to dig that to find a solution, mwaaa. So I don’t try any more because it makes me want to take a Massu to hit my PC which is not working! so I wait for the updates, it’s wiser, we’ll see.

And I’m back to having my Live Weather working again today. No config changes done to ANYTHING related to the sim. I added an extra 32GB to my system last Thursday (2 days after the weather had stopped working again) bringing me up to 64GB, but no config changes anywhere. Last night, weather wasn’t working. Same settings tonight, and it is. I’m on my 3rd flight now without restarting or using the workaround.

It’s this apparent randomness that makes it nigh on impossible to tie down.

Indeed. It’s a tricky one. It comes and goes without changing anything on the client computer. Literally, I’ve had the same settings, in Windows for months. I haven’t changed anything in the sim in at least 2 weeks, if not more. I haven’t updated any mods other than the new AIRAC from Navigraph. I haven’t tweaked any in-sim settings other than some graphics, and the last time I touched those would have been at least a week ago, if not more. None of this should have any effect on Live Weather.

It’s just plain bizare.

EDIT:

On my 5th flight now with working weather.

well, I like constancy over changes day-by-day  continuously not working. The departure airport has the details from the first flight as it shows the weather, tho’ nothing at the arrival…
edit: so I started with the workaround -clear sky, change to real after load- but it still doesn’t download the weather anymore, once the bug occurred

since we are on the subject of live weather: when using AI control, that’s when the plane messes up the most…but when I switched it to clear skies, everything works great…now if that could just be fixed

And just like that, it’s not working again for me today. No changes were made to any settings at all in any way since last night when I did 5 consecutive flights with weather working.

Three back to back flights for me today with live weather.

Add me into the pool of people who have to Reboot the sim after each flight to get Live Weather to function again. Try as I might nothing changes the outcome as any subsequent flight on the main map loads with clear skies. This has been a pretty consistent issue since launch for me and no matter of reinstall has fixed it so far.

Steam Install BTW and on both my Desktop and a Laptop.

Ok. So oddly I rechecked the Live Weather on my Laptop and for whatever reason, it does work after the first flight…
Desktop however does not even after the latest update. So weird. I’ll keep looking for any reason or logic to it but the Desktop consistently needs a restart of the game for it to work after the first flight. The only time it works after a first flight, is if you just restart the same flight without leaving it.

I had it tonight actually. Flew from Cambridge to London on live weather. Very windy, and cloudy. Landed at London City, saved, started a new flight at the same location, clouds were gone, and it was clear. That might be the fourth or fifth time I’ve seen that. Never saw it once over the weekend, and I must have logged 10-15 hours.

Hasn’t worked in almost a week for me now. It was nice to have it working for a few days last week…

Just hit the bug this evening also, flying over London from EGLC.
Real weather worked only for the first flight, but not subsequent ones whatever I did

After todays patch/UK world update I don’t get any live weather. Only on my first flight everything worked. London, showers, rainbow, beautiful clouds etc. Now everything is clear, 15 degrees c, 29.92 inhg etc. Not even restarting the simulator makes a difference anymore.
Anybody else?

Welcome to the growing club. That’s what all of us in here are experiencing. There’s no known fix for it, just a workaround that’s less then perfect.

The only thing that so far we can be almost certain of, until Asobo find and squash this bug, you’re stuck with this problem permanently of having to restart the sim between flights to get full live weather.

There’s a workaround you can use that will give you live weather on all flights, but regardless of the actual wind in sim, you’ll always be assigned takeoff and landing runways based on the default 225/5 winds which makes for less than ideal landing conditions.

We need more votes on this thread.
