Video demonstrating the Live Weather only on 1st flight bug

Thanks for the welcoming. Though that club I have been a member of since MSFS released date.

But the new club that I just seemed to have joined is even more special. As I wrote… not even the work around, nor restarting the simulator helps now.

Anybody else?

Did the workaround work for you in the past?

Yes it did… either that or the sim restart. But most of the time it was enough to set clear weather, and the choose live weather when the sim had loaded.

I’m still updating now. I hope I’m not part of your exclusive club also. lol

Could be nice to have some company here though .

But after some testing it looks like a computer restart did some difference. Right now the workaround has worked three times in a row without restarting the sim in-between. But I also demoted my windows user from administrator to regular user at the same time. So what might have made the difference needs a little more testing .

Did a flight today in the new version and live weather stopped working after the first flight. I have my server set to automatic.

Did you have the issue before or is this new?

Had it before, but then it was fixed after I set my server to Automatic. Now it was back again.

After the last update the real time does not work, with no clouds and summer temperatures.

just from the last update? Well, anyway, hello here

I have had this issue since the game was first released.

Live weather only seems to work on the first flight and then I get clear skies on each subsequent flight.

I just want this to be fixed. Why can’t Asobo fix it?! There are so many replies in this thread, surely they are at least aware of the problem.

What I want to know is why it only seems to be affecting some people; or do most people just not notice? I’ve done a clean install and tried it on multiple computers, and it reproduces every time.

During the last Q&A Seb said he wanted to see the issue himself, but couldn’t replicate the bug

Because until recently, they assumed it was user error and we weren’t setting live weather correctly. That’s the point of this thread - posting videos of the issue so they can see it’s not user error.

It’s affecting a small portion of users. Why, I don’t know. No one’s managed to peg down a cause for it. Although I’m sure there are people (people who aren’t simmers and looking for the weather / using custom weather presets) experiencing it that are oblivious to it.

What he said was they couldn’t replicate it. But he also said he watched a video some time ago of someone complaining about it and that individual was using the Live Time button instead of Live Weather.

As a result, the assumption on their end was that their interface was confusing and people were doing it wrong. That means they didn’t believe there actually was an issue and chalking it up to user error.

Ok so update to this issue. After doing a clean Steam reinstall of MSFS 2020 today in an attempt to just see if it fixes both the Weather issue and my Pause/Lag issue that showed up after the last patch, well, it did…

Being I have the Steam Install, it installs MSFS 2020 to whatever directory I have Steam set to install the game, and the game installs to the default AppData\Roaming location for the ingame patchers assets. I backed up the Input folder in the Steam install Directory, then uninstalled the game through Steam, and manually deleted both game folders from both locations manually since it leaves pretty much everything behind that the game downloads as well as a few things in the Steam Install location.

A few hours later after reinstalling and redownloading the entire game, the Weather has worked consistently for multiple flights ingame without a game restart, and even after a game restart to make sure, and my Pauses/lags that I was having are also gone. Soo Not sure if the same would happen with the Microsoft Store install, but it wouldn’t hurt to try and do a clean install by first deleting the game, then removing any remaining files manually before reinstalling just to be on the safe side.

I wouldn’t call that a definitive victory as of yet. Out of the blue, my live weather started working last evening - a couple of hours before the time you made your post. I flew 3 flights consecutively without restarting nor using the workaround whereas through the day yesterday, it wasn’t working without a restart between flights. And it’s still working for me today.

So if you managed to permanently fix the issue, then good for you. But I wouldn’t be too quick to declare this solved as of yet. Others have reinstalled multiple times to no avail. They’ve even reformatted their computer and reinstalled Windows from clean and the problem persists.

Give it a couple of days. This seems to happen regularly to those of us afflicted by this issue. Weather mysteriously starts working again for no reason. It works for what can be a few hours to a few days. And then just as mysteriously as it started working, it stops again.

i had the same issue On a flight to day from Frankfurt to Porto in the MSFS 2020. The Live Weather dosent work unfortunally. I have only a Wind from 225/03. And the Live Weather dosent work often for me. Do you have the same Issue?

Welcome to MSFS weather Hell.

Whoever thought that having beautiful, pristine clear weather could be a problem?

And just like that after my 3rd flight today, Live Weather stopped working and required a restart to get it working again.

yes that is sad. But when you since 1 - 2h in the air i won’t restart the flight sim i think. Thats why i dont restart the flightsim today.

My first 2 flights were short - 30 and 50 minutes. My 3rd was significantly longer at just shy of 2 hours. Then went for a 4th flight, and no weather.

I don’t think time spent in the air has anything to do with it at all. It’s a server issues that Asobo need to sort out.
