VL3 - Rotax 915 mod

Thanks for this! Will try it out and update the project!

Thanks for letting us know about the effect our Wind Data implementation has on the stock G1000.
We think we have found a way around this and will either fix it in the next release or remove the Wind Data temporarily. Thanks for the PR btw…will have a good look at it! I’ve send you a PM invite to our Discord.

Yes need to re-learn flying a bit…this may be an Ultra Light but to be honest, with 141HP in a plane of this weight, it’s more a UL/Aerobatic hybrid and flies as such.

Btw our next release will have a tuned nose wheel / rudder so the takeoff roll is less twitchy. As a matter of fact, she’s now a joy to ride even on the tarmac! (in the next release  )

Keep the feedback coming guys, we live to make the plane you
love

wind don’t give propeller power, but can give some lift force, so gliders works
your captain obvious

thx everyone, i go fly her

are you sure it’s all right lol

Hi @ContrivedTea675. I hope you’re not afraid of heights.

We are pretty sure that our power and flight models are close to correct from ground level all the way to our service ceiling of FL230 (supported by data directly from JMB as well as the POH). Beyond that however we have no data, as this plane in real life probably never has been taken higher than that, even though it could. Oxygen and temperature being an issue and all that.

Having said that, being at FL320 (your screenshot), seems a tad on the high side.

On the ceiling topic, there are a number of them that are named:

  • critical ceiling: FL150 (turbo engine can still maintain MP)
  • optimum cruise: FL180
  • service ceiling: FL230 (rate of climb 100fpm for props)
  • absolute ceiling: maximum height for sustained flight (no data)

As this is a work in progress we are very much still working on this, and would value any additional data in order to fine-tune our engine and aerodynamic models. Lift at extreme altitudes definitely require additional adjustments still.

i use hot air and oxygen

It’s the best we can do for now. I’ve seen people take the default TBM practically into space…the flight dynamics aren’t perfect in the default sim.

And we are doing better! Spend a good amount of time researching today (the whole day basically) on the high altitude (over)performance of planes in general in FS2020, and yes, there is a bug in the Asobo model it seems. The good news is we also found a work around! Now testing…but it looks like we now get highly accurate performance for ALL altitudes. So by now we have tuned (to JMB specs):

  • Correct optimum cruise speed
  • Correct take off speed
  • Correct stall speed (clean and landing configs)
  • Correct climb rates at all altitudes
  • Correct fuel flow
  • Correct lift and glide
  • Correct critical altitude, service ceiling, max ceiling
  • Correct drag (induced, parasite, flaps, gear, etc)

…and well…there is some more…but you get the idea. We are getting awfully close to a study level performance aircraft!

The update that includes the above tweaks should be released soon…watch this space guys!

On the other hand we removed - for now - the Wind Data in the G3X as that interfered with the stock G1000 of all other planes. It will be back…but only after we fix this.

We also spend a lot of time making the ground behavior during taxi and takeoff rolls a very pleasant experience (much less twitchy…or not twitchy at all). You’ll love the coming update.

Teaser…comes with a new livery…

Can’t wait to try the last update. Really this plane wasn’t my cup of tea at first (not fond of ultralights) but its capabilities make it my go to plane at the moment. It’s really fun and challenging.

I’m looking for informations about the propeller knob usage in this plane. What is the pressure meaning near the printed prop speed informations?
Also when I change the prop speed I see it in the smaller font on top of the rpm screen but there is another number written in big. What are the other options about? To be honest I completely missed this panel in my first flights and always flew with max prop!

Honestly, I already forgot about the rest of the planes in the game. I find this plane to be the most realistic and fun with difference, be it for stunts, small flights, or long flights. Almería-Dusseldorff with a full tank xD

I wish i had money to buy a real one!

I did a brief video on this.
VL3 Propellor Governor Controller

so guys, is it real now? where can i download best newest version?
p.s. would be cool if change modes under trimmer/throttle 55% 75% climb take off whatever… in Asobo i flew most time at 24/4300 maximum throttle about 6-7kf alt

Very nice Dave! Really appreciate your professional input to our project. Awesome! You are gonna love the next update…and also we fixed the rattling overspeed sound which you highlighted previously…will now only happen at 205 TAS or so. Many many other realism improvements will be in the next release. Still got to work on oil temp/press and such … much work remains to be done.

The next release will also be much less twitchy. We took your review seriously

The prop governor we expect to be fully implemented by Asobo at some point, so we are not yet touching it. For now we adjust RPM manually. Very nice video Dave. I learned a lot from it!

We will release it soon…testing…once approved it’ll be out. Unlike Asobo we test properly  … but having said that … we love what Asobo has done and is doing. Keep it up guys!

be careful and gentle with her, because she is cutie

We would be the first to agree. Handle with care…she’s a hottie.

In the mean time another shot .. this time the interior of the new Lion livery.

is there power modes table changed? can’t see in the pic
