VL3 - Rotax 915 mod

Exactly what I needed! Thank you. I am ashamed to ask what is the suction pressure shown on the plate next to the prop controller?

We have yet to update that plate, but for now, here are the actual numbers for the VL-3 915:

Take-off 5800 44.8
Max.cont 5500 42.7
80% 5500 36.6
70% 5000 34.0
60% 5000 29.9
50% 5000 26.1
40% 5000 22.3

That makes much more sense. I tried 27mp and it was impossible to hold  Thanks

Welcome…yeah that’s the thing with a work in progress…but really appreciate all your love for our bird guys. Fantastic. We’ll likely have the plate updated in the release after the coming one.

I found this document, it’s for the 912 but what is interesting is that it shows that the speed variations in regards of rpm are linear.
In French:
« Les variations de vitesses en fonction du nombre de tours du moteur sont linéaires (R2=0,9955) »

Maybe it could be interesting to test the speeds on the 915 to see if the RPM effects the speed in the same linear way.

We actually have … got the 915 POH also. Thanks for bringing this up though!

Next release in a few hours if all goes well…think we can still squeeze in the much wanted power chart too.

Love you guys ! What a fantastic job !

Excellent , love this plane!!

just submitted a fix on github

And…the new update is out guys, go and get v0.11!

General Aircraft

  • Renamed the aircraft from VL3 to VL-3 because it seems to be the most observed name
  • Renamed liveries for more consistency between them

Liveries

  • New Livery available: ā€œLionā€

G3X

  • Removed the wind data arrow for the moment (because it affects other planes), working on a solution to get it back (thanks to kaosfere for help)

Simulation

  • Improved realism at high altitude (critical altitude, cruise altitude, service ceiling on target)
  • Climb speeds at all altitudes according to the POH
  • Many engine and aerodynamic improvements
  • Overspeed sound effects (rattling noise) now starts only at much higher speeds
  • Improved ground handling significantly
  • Much less twitchy during take-off roll

Model

  • Updated the power chart inside the cockpit to reflect the Rotax 915iS performance

Gotcha on the fix @Argento6696, done. Will be in the next release. Sorry about that! The landing light was corrected 10 degrees in the wrong direction.

looks like i stay with her, when i flight i sing to my self - you are so beautiful…
p.s. is it possible to add auto flaps working, that’s will the tangible dream… and oat, for use hot air
p.p.s 3 blades? please…

We like to do a lot of things, that is for sure! But modifying the physical model is beyond our team for the moment (we all have daytime jobs).

  • 3 Blades however are simulated (in absolute factory detail)…you just see 2.
  • Hot air we have. Just sit nearer your PC when you fly above FL95.
  • Auto flaps…mm…who knows? But only if it comes with the original VL-3 915, which we are trying to simulate to the best of our abilities.

Thanks for loving our bird and singing to her! :bird:

you can found auto switcher right the left of the flaps rotary, so why i thinking about auto in the real vl3

Gotcha… :+1:t2:

I don’t know why the autopilot is activated and it won’t let me fly. I don’t know how to deactivate it

try ā€œzā€

…

Just a quick update…we are hard at work behind the scenes on all sorts of goodies involving the G3X, liveries and more. Stay tuned!

Nice work on the latest mod. I noticed a couple of issues:

  1. Oil temperature is in the red at idle even though coolant temp is very low
  2. When switching tanks, tank legend changes from white to green but does not change back to white we tank is changed.
  3. Still makes a lot of noise when rolling into a steep turn, the aircraft won’t make this noise.
  4. Adverse yaw at slow speed is very high.
  5. Prop/spinner seems to wobble a lot at idle when viewed externally (beyond the scope of the mod team I know).

Here is my latest video which covers these items:

Thanks once again Dave for your in-depth analysis. Your feedback absolutely helps in bringing this plane closer to reality by each iteration.

  1. Oil temp > on our list
  2. Switching tanks > we are working on major Panel improvements, including alerts, which could address this as well
  3. Noise > Will look into it. You may also want to play with the sound settings in the sim. Personally I set the Aircraft Miscellaneous a bit lower. The overspeed sound should kick in much later though already. Will check it out!
  4. Adverse yaw > Added to my list
  5. Yeah, you’re right, outside our scope
