Waste of time

Absence of evidence, is not evidence of absence. I hope you would applaud that Asobo are going to fix an issue that doesn’t seem to be with their software.

I must have missed the millions of posts by people checking in saying all is well with their setup, and they haven’t had a CTD yet.

Actually, that quite disappoints me. That’s taking away resources from the enhancement of the sim, just to placate a vociferous few, who are having likely self inflicted issues.

I guess the upside is that Asobo will learn a bit more how their product interacts with outlier rigs, and third party software.

Why are you still responding to me then?

Sounds like a personal problem. Again, why are you here?

Are you looking for sympathy? A refund? A hug? Again, sounds like a personal problem

Sounds like someone never learned the value of patience. The game was released not 6 months ago. If you don’t like where it’s at now don’t play it. Literally no point in complaining about how bad it runs at this point.

I’d really like to see this thread locked it’s going no where very fast

I might got 1 or 2 CTD at the beginning but I did figure out it was my setting that did cause them. I was pushing my system too far and it caused some CTD. So I keep everything (windows 10; Nvidia driver and everything else) up to date and brings some setting down and no more CTD even after Asobo updates. One of the CTD happened after an Asobo update because I forgot to remove everything from the “community” folder before the update! Again make sure you are running the sim according to the capability of your system.
Hope this help.

It is true that those people who have a generic sim or gamer account with no addons at all, and also those people that just download freeware ports of old FSX airports or bought very basic payware which basically rip off the very cartoon looking default Asobo runways and taxiways will have no issues at all with the game at present.

Hence the main people having issues this holiday weekend are indeed the ones that paid for quality well made addons, often from in game from the Microsoft marketplace, where the developer has gone to the trouble of creating specific texture files to match the real life location of the scenery instead of using the pretty awful default ones.

BTW it is unclear if you are just trolling or really believe the database programers fixing a database conflict issue would be put to better use going back to school and learning to use blender and starting a new career designing scenery and aircraft for the enhancement of the sim ?

I’m sorry that you’re having so much trouble. However, for me, I have not encountered 1 CTD since release. Not one. Maybe a new install will turn out to be helpful. I hope you get to the root of the problem so you can enjoy flying.

I think I have a special version of the simulator, since I had have not crashes.

Mark me down as having CTDs. It was pretty much every flight past the hour mark. None just flying a circuit. I do use FSUIPC for for PFC throttle/yoke only. BUT since I have went to Microsoft store and hit update all , reverted my nVidia to 457 and removed the old liveries pack (from September), all has been good…knock on wood… 4 flights past 2 hours.

You may not be using anything that utilises SimConnect.

Strange…Iv had over 300 hours so far in the sim Flying the A320 Mod version…had a couple of CTD as we all have but been fine up till this morning..

!0 flights in a row taxing to runway for takeoff CTD over and over from EGNT and EGNM to EGLL

Iv now unistalled all my paid for airports from Orbix and the MS Store but kepy the A320 FBW mod and its now fine…What gives lol

Try this:

Dear,

simple solution,
Increase your page file to 16gb and no CTD will be there

This thread may help. It’s to do with .CGL files.

TG

Yes I can guarantee a 100% certainty to get a CTD.
I only have one Add On Airport EGNM by Orbyx.
If I approach it or start from it then it happens.
No other Airport causes problems.
They have clarified it is a conflict with a CGL file in the onestore folder and has only started in the last few days.

Can you tell me how you uninstall an Add On Airport from Orbyx bought through the Marketplace and do you need to download it again later if you want to install it again ?
Can’t it be switched off somehow ?

good afternoons commanders i have my official simulator all official with the plane without addon in the community and recently u arrive in the united kingdom at the EGLC airport with the adoon of the city acquired in the official store whenever i touch the runway the crash simulator i don’t know why it does this always do not let me record the flight time I miss the time and do not complete the flight and whenever I go to the console to clear the console of errors it blocks it will also be a known problem ??? thanks for listening friends

Here’s my thoughts on the ‘how many people experience CTD’ conundrum. Just my thoughts for discussion, I’m not shooting anyone down here or denying that people facing extremely frustrating issues that they deserve to have fixed one way or another.

.

If CTD is a constant problem for most users, wouldn’t we witness some major public acknowledgement and “stop everything until we fix it” approach from Asobo? I’m thinking of the Cyberpunk recall here.

On the flip side, every company weighs up the risk of refunds & bad press vs continued sales, that’s just the way business works. So either Asobo / Microsoft don’t see evidence that this is a major issue, or they know it is and are ignoring it…

A given % of customers will always experience issues with a product, be it with a new game, computer, car, phone, etc. If the % of users facing problems is high enough, or if the problem is big enough to risk legal action (perhaps less likely in flight sim!) then it’s immediately dealt with. It’s a small issue that most people work around, or a huge issue that few people experience, it will be much lower down the list. Purely based on the finances.

Personally, on the balance of evidence, I would say that a low % of users are facing regular crashes to desktop that are related solely to the base sim, and not related to community mods, addons, user hardware or software that Asobo & microsoft are not responsible for. It is also true that those with problems will be the first to vocalise. That is just a fact, and has always been the case in any kind of consumer feedback for any given product. I’m afraid that arguing ‘maybe those people just aren’t speaking up’ doesn’t tally with the statistics.

Now, for that small % facing CTD every flight, this is SUPER annoying! As another post said recently, there may just be the perfect storm of circumstances that mean that the sim will always crash for you. I have to believe that Asobo of course WANT to fix these issues for you, but it is a business and you may just not be worth their while focusing on right now. That sounds harsh but it’s the way it is.

They are balancing development in lots of areas and this forum represents just one section of the customer base they are targeting, new blood is just as important to them because it pays for their support for us, existing customers.

Research has suggested that FS2020 will sell 2.27 Million copies in the first 3 years. Lets assume for ease of maths that 500,000 copies have sold so far (new release hype and all that). How many users have to report CTD every flight for it to be considered a high priority fix? 1,000? 10,000? 100,000? 500,000?

If 1,000 users report CTD every flight, but they are currently selling 100,000 copies every month, and project another 50,000 new game pass subscriptions per month on xbox release, what do they focus on? Please don’t pick apart my maths, I’m no statistician, but my point is… it’s tricky, right?

Anyway this post is already too long and you get the gist. It’s super annoying for those experiencing issues, and why it’s important that anyone experiencing problems report the issue to ZenDesk so they have the data.

And in the mean time, hopefully the community can help find fixes, or help find the circumstances that result in a CTD so that can be reported to ZenDesk.

Last three airports I added since 1.12.13.0 that may be causing the CTD. Nothing else including hardware and settings have changed.

KIAD, KSDF and WSSS. All other mods and freeware airports worked fine before and after update.

I have a little tip with finding if add-ons in the community folder are to blame for CTDs or other issues.

I often see people posting “remove all your add-ons in the community folder” especially when someone says something like “I have 50+ add-ons”.

This is madness - I think most will not do it.

Just rename your community folder and then test if you still get the issue. If you must, make a new, empty community folder during your tests which you can then delete and rename the original folder back again.
