What Annoying MSFS Bug/Flaw still remains in 2023

Yeah on that I agree!

A tiny separate config file that could be referenced could do that pretty easily, if they implemented it.

Good luck to those with even less idea of computers than me… Going to try it now… knocking on wood

This one… hopefully it will be resolved some day, at least it is 'feedback logged; despite hardly any votes!

I have the"next to latest" version installed on my system - the latest that supports my video card - and one of its capabilities is managing your driver version. Knowing your system and video card it will find, select, and (optionally) download the latest drivers for you. So having Adrenaline installed isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Huh? Strange but a typically ā€œmodern internet postā€. You appear to be replying to something that was never said. I never said that adrenaline is a bad thing. Never once. You merely imagined it. Why do people on the internet do this? It’s really bizarre behaviour.

I have adrenaline installed on my machine. I was simply pointing out that he was quoting the adrenaline version number and not the driver version number which is a mistake many seem to make and it’s worth pointing out because it matters.

It’s really easy to update the VBIOS, mate. Just make sure you download the correct file and do exactly what it says. It takes seconds. Given that you posted that an hour ago you should be well done by now and testing it out.

I am sorry if you misunderstood me - I never intended to imply that anyone said that Adrenaline was a bad thing. I merely wanted to mention that downloading Adrenaline had the useful feature of managing the drivers as well - which I think is a good thing - as it frees the user form having to chase driver updates. It has the useful feature of ensuring you get the correct drivers as they can be confusing. It also has the capability to manage the settings in the video card - like fans - and I find it useful.

No harm, no foul, fella.

When I switched to AMD recently I was actually very impressed with the Adrenaline software. Enough to allow it on my machine which is something I never allowed with Nvidia’s G-Force Experience.

One of it’s useful features is that you can pop-up a display window which can show you what the video card and driver thinks is happening, as opposed to what the game thinks is happening. Is there a memory leak that MSFS can’t see? Adrenaline can show that and I can write the bug. Or, I can verify that ā€œIssue Xā€ isn’t a game issue, but is an issue somewhere else in the system, like a bogus BIOS setting.

I can also ensure that ALL the video memory is available to the game, (which the game doesn’t show AFAIK), and tweak settings at the card and driver level rather than bog-down the game’s resources with it.

It’s a great troubleshooting tool and a good way to manage the video card too.

It was easy yes… no change though. MSFS crashes in VR and I begin to think that it’s something in my BIOS. Only really noticable in MSFS though. I can’t use any driver but ā€œWHQL-AMD-Software-Adrenalin-Edition-22.5.1-Win10-Win11-May10ā€ in DCS while MSFS would probably benefit from 22.11.2.

I updated my BIOS 2 months ago and accidentally missed to take photos from my CPU overclocking which was perfectly set up for my system with minium frame times etc. everything was super smooth and I think that it’s something in BIOS that I missed. I have a friend who set up my BIOS when I got this PC and we’ll meet in 2 weeks to have another look at it. I’ll just have to wait and then check all the things again. Until then it’s pancake mode time ^^ Thank you for the advice though, I did’t even think of updating the firmware of the card.

Well, that’s a shame. I had hoped it would work out for you but from what you have said it does sound like it’s something to do with that BIOS update and/or the settings. I have overlooked some settings after a BIOS update before. Consequently, and as you mentioned, I now make sure I take pics of every settings page in there before any update. Have done for years now.

Anyway, hope you and your friend get to the bottom of it.

Good Point ! They have to keep MSFS easy enough to operate and configure for the laymen among us and even those with less computer skills. This program cannot be for the Flight and Computer Enthusiast only.

Every time I fly IFR near mountains I seem to get assigned an altitude that will send me right into the side of one. I don’t know why the minimums aren’t properly set on each route. And sometimes I get assigned a new random altitude every minute while descending. Just few today KASE to KGXY got assigned 12,000 on V328 between SKEED and POWDR, minimum altitude for my route was 16,500/15,800. Had to ignore ATC until I passed the front range.

I noticed the same problem with altitude assignments too.
Maybe the next update the ATC will get better. there seems to be lots of simmers complaining about the ATC reliability.

The ā€œtree issueā€ in general, that is too many, in inappropriate places (like streets), too big, etc, although Bijan 4 Seasons has helped quite a bit … a little thing - the Santa Monica Pier is now truncated (didn’t used to be), well known - filled in under some bridges …

Blackshark AI ā€œonlyā€ needs to train their AI to filter the ugly PG trees and remove them. Then set a procedural tree there.
Fixed (partly).

The trees as big as they are because MSobo tries to cover the PG trees with them.

Next step is to check the airports if there are any trees where no tree ever should be.
