I have now nearly 2 hours of testing and so far so good. No, definitively no for me; the LOD is not lowered at all in my computer. Quality seems better overall, no problem on that side. And the boost is real!
You’re pushing your limits there, keep your eye in (what was) My Computer, if the drive volume bar turns red then you’re already in trouble.
Don’t want disappoint you but it’s probably your internet provider that you should be griping at.
Hmm, my draw distance is much shorter and stuff is updating right in front of me. (Flying over NY). I won’t draw any conclusions yet, the servers are probably hammered atm.
However even looking behind, it’s err eesh (terrain detail 100, what I had before)
It does use half the memory as it did before.
Try enabling your cache and repeating the trip.

The update itself on the startup went fast aswell. 150Mbits/s. But the packages are slow AF…
What time is it where you are? I only ask because here in Germany mine started slow but has only got quicker as the evening’s worn on (i.e. folk retiring to bed)
It absolutely has. And it could be seen in the Q&A video of Seb flying over NY. Under SU5, the textures were lower res, building edges not as well defined, and overall, just all details were lower.
Now that I’ve actually flown in this update, I can confirm this. I’ve now got everything at Ultra with both LODs at 200 (wasn’t able to do that before), and LOD looks worse than it did before.

And you still can’t pop out a window or instrument (ATC, VFR map, etc) without tanking fps down to what it was before the update.

Have to say I am very disappointed with the new update, terrible popping in of scenery, trees, buildings etc, that never occurred before, tree draw distance still awful. Once again a graphical downgrade. The sim is so much worse than on release.
Agreed. Way worse than it was prior.
I’d suggest anyone still experiencing slow speeds just hang in there but we all live in different timezones and where you are there might not be anyone around to fix the internet … Whatever you do make sure you have plenty of space on your hard drive and that Windows is managing virtual memory.
