What started as an IFR from EBLG to EBOS, became more of a training flight.
Made several failed attempts to perform an ILS approach at EBOS with the C208 (incl. Improvement Mod).
I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong, I selected APPR and crossed the localizer several times, but it never activated, it just ignored it. I’m not an expert but this is how I used to do that …
Also, could not push the buttons that are also twist knobs (like HDG to set heading bug to current heading).
What did I do ?
Not fly that’s for sure !
Every single time there is some kind of update
I lose MSFS to CTD on startup . . .
Then I got to track down ■■■ is going on and fix it . . .
It is like a piece of junk car that breaks down once a week
Possibly one of the most visually unremarkable screenshots I’ve taken, but there’s actually quite a bit in there.
GotGravel Vertigo in SU9 Public Beta - the GTN750 integration is busted, hence the darkened MFD. Reported to PMS.
Below in the foreground, the famous Bosphorous Straits viewed from the East, separating the Mediterranean from the Black Sea - the gateway to the Orient.
In the background the Sea of Mermara, and the imposing bulk of Mount Uludag near the City of Bersa, across from the capital city of Turkey - Istanbul. So much history and civilization crossroads in one brief glimpse at 335 KTAS and 9,000’.
Coincidentally I had been flying in this area recently but I did not record the landing… so I very quickly started a flight a short distance away in the air and landed. Some images of the rather rough & ready approach and landing:
The flying wasn’t pretty: very crude and not properly lined up on final approach and landed to the left of the centerline but just a quick jaunt to show the scene.
It was time to get away from European dreary to African sunny, so I did a FNNG FNUE trip with an additional landing+takeoff at FNCC. I always used asphalt or bitumen runways with the Albatros so far, so I wanted to try a dirt or grass airport that still has a safe length. FNCC is dirt and a tad over 2km long so it was ideal and I must say I managed to do one of my smoothest landing ever with the L39.
you can always fly without any automation (AP off) and only focus and the diamonds or stay visual
If you fly an ILS without AutoPilot AP and Flight Directors FD it is an ILS Raw Data Approach
@derstein98 Sometimes I have to do it myself (I fly jets around mostly if I’m not exploring in a velocity with no AI), the AI pilot would need me to step in to avoid a crash when taxing or taking off or landing, which sucks really as I’d love to be able to just sit back and relax and watch it have at it/AI’s pilot is like somebody you’re supervising all the time who you can’t trust to do the job itself sometimes, so you have to be ready to step in and correct its mistakes - I feel.
Sometimes I just ‘fire it’ and do all the groundwork, takeoffs, and landings myself. I’m all like ‘you’re fired’ after I see it f’ up. So I correct it and do it myself, because when you want something done right. Last week, before I got to Japan, I was beginning to only let AI take over after ATC gave clearance to the destination in the air… Got that clearance on the ground with it, took off, put it to AI, AI wanted to kiss the ground in a Boeing 777-200er… Then ATC asked me to confirm the destination (again) and then it was good to go… Seems AI don’t even do confirmation on the ground too well.
@treborillusion i dont buy products of CaptainSCAM, its just trash. But i am using the sim to learn to fly and exploring the world and i dont use ATC and AI of the sim. I’m flying on Vatsim and its sooo much better
But you can do it how you like it of course!
I flew the second leg of a vintage Lufthansa route in the Junkers 52/3M 1939. Today’s flight was from Vienna to Budapest. The weather was terrific, but the heavy cloud layers made the VOR to VOR flight unrealistic. So for the remaining legs of the route going to Athens, I will pretend to have waited 24 hours for better weather and make the changes to the weather for a more realistic VFR/VOR flight.
I’ve done 2/3 nights at Tokyo Dome now, I’ve got two days off now and I’m going out to that annual festival later today out in Kawasaki.
The Shinto Kanamara Matsuri at the Kanayama Shrine in Kawasaki to be precise.
Flew in the CJ4 from Roswell (KROW) to San Angelo (KSJT) today (leg of my world tour), which I started about 8 months ago from Porto, Portugal, in eastern direction. Taking my time and flying anything between Cessna 172 and Boeing 787.
I noticed at landing in San Angelo there was a wind of 56kts from the east! According to the METAR there should have only be a 10 kts wind. I wonder if it had to do with pausing the flight for a couple of hours.
So after the landing the aircraft drifted from the runway, but at least I was able to prevent it from flipping over.
