Test-flying my new cargo ship! Pulling up very gently as learned as in the tutorial videos for the 800-1000 series.
The first take-off was so smooth and perfect and below 10° AOA that the Fenix is quivering with jealousness… The strong sidewind carried her a little bit off course while slowly ascending during the first maiden flight.
I love this vertical … eh… vertical… screen… whatever, the Airbus does not have this therefore I don´t know how it´s called But it looks aweseome and gives so much terrain awareness. Looks like interesting mountains are ahead. Terrain ahead pull up! No wait that is what the Airbus would say. Let´s fly over there and hear what the Boeing ground proximity warning system will ■■■■■ and bark when she thinks the end is nigh because of a mountain
Flew to Innsbruck in my TBM. It was tricky, quite windy, constant inputs required and I had to hand fly the approach too. Used far more runway than I would have liked too, not helped by the fact that ATC got me to land with a tail wind!
Not today, but yesterday. After months of flying Choppers, decided to fly fixed wing again (172). Not good. Every takeoff roll ended in the trees. I had reversed my controls for the H145, Bravo on the left, (more sense for the Collective). Yoke on the right and throttle left had me all confused.
Landed, you can take off there as well, but mind the slope and the trees, use the drone cam to see where to go straight, before throttle anywhere fast !
I found the SU10 beta and switched over. Amazing. I believe Asobo just about has it. I’ve been very consistently get a solid 40fps in VR on the Rift S. I’ve made several flights in a row at different times, in different a/c, in both urban and rural. I have had not one glitch, stutter, tear, shred, skip, pause - nothing. Smooth as butter even in high scenery density areas. I hope this remains, permanently. Fix that odd AI behavior and ATC and I believe you will be about there. Maybe some people need better aerodynamics, but it’s fine for my uses. IMO, only a few minor things need fixed now. Keep it up.
Unfortunately I didn’t get much flying in today, but I did finish the setup, key bindings and calibration of my new control system! I’ve also got a removable stand for the left side of this setup that holds my tablet for flight planning/charts but I don’t have it on in this photo. Also not pictured here is my headset/mic that I use while flying.
I did take a quick taxi and takeoff just to make sure it all worked right.
Thinking of upgrading to the TBVO on Xbox. Currently have the HOTAS One (I’ll be keeping for helicopters). I figured it’s once again time to “step up”.
@CplPhokett Really liking it so far. I had the HOTAS One as well (which is why I’ve got the TM pedals set up with the V1) and I enjoyed it well enough, but this setup is so much better for me.
It took about 90 minutes to get the keybindings done and sensitivities dialed in - but using the SimHanger tutorials on YouTube made it pretty straightforward. I kept modifying the sensitivity after the first dozen flights or so and it feels great now.
Would definitely recommend it as an option for XB. I had read lots of complaints about the yoke being sticky when pulling or pushing but I have zero issues with that and it’s smooth and easy for one hand use. Some of that conversation seems to be an early vs current build of the product since it seems people who have just recently picked one up aren’t experiencing the issue as much.
I wish there was a bit more resistance on the four levers of the throttle quadrant but I’ve seen some folks using felt furniture pads to create that and I’m going to give it a shot. But other than that, there’s not much I don’t like about it.
My stand is a GT Omega Racing Wheel stand and other than one small modification needed for the top plate to allow the yoke to grip better, it’s worked wonderfully.
It’s a GT Omega racing wheel stand but it works great. The only modification I had to make was to add a 1x3 piece of wood under the top plate since it was hollow underneath and the yoke wouldn’t clamp evenly. After that change, it’s perfect. Lots of adjustable options for height, angle of the pedal plate and position of the side mounts.
