What did you do in MSFS today? (Part 1)

KWYS-KBYG. Had to see how Asobo improved the Bear Lodge Mountain scenery - no disappointed, visible from miles off. Now, someone should do the visitor center off the main road, and maybe the campsite.

Flew from Tillamook OR (KTMK) to North Bend OR (KOTH), Crescent City CA (KCEC) and Redding CA (KRDD).

Clouds to 1800’ at Tillamook but for the rest of the trip the weather on the coast was really nice, but hit fog at Crescent City - RNAV and ILS didn’t work so it was VFR in the soup. Luckily I could see at the minimums and was able to land.

The flight east, over the Sierra Nevada’s, was great! Mt Shasta is awesome!

My best landing yet in the V35 at Redding. Smooth, nice flare and on centre !

Take aways

  • 2 CTD when taxiing to GA parking and lost my flight time…grrr
  • At some of the smaller airports the RNAV/ILS approaches don’t seem to work. Will prepare all my flights for a VFR approach from now on.
  • V35 is FAST, but thirsty…glad I’m not paying for avgas!
  • Really enjoy the camera drone…

Next legs: Reno NV (KRNO), Truckee NV (KTRK), Lake Tahoe NV (KTVL), Sacramento CA (KMCC)

Called my buddy who moved to Florida and is attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

He started taking flight lessons last month. Today he did his first solo in a Cessna 172. I fly that aircraft a lot in the sim and talked about that aircraft but asked more questions. Although I did impress him when talking about the flaps, how I thought there were four levels of flaps, not three. He then re-thought and said you’re right, there are four levels
Thanks MSFS! ha ha ha

In all seriousness, we determined that my 4k + flight simming, equates to maybe 1.5 hours of flight school, at best. His knowledge was so much. I was really impressed. It’s cool to know someone who is learning how to fly in real life. He’s super excited about aviation and when I showed him the sim last year, he wasn’t into flying but he is now, big time.

The previous two days it was my holy duty to perfectionize the PMDG 737 series as good as possible. Things I am not able to patch and change I have reported in the PMDG forums.
Now I can finally lean back and grab my HOTAS and enjoy the flair and mood of the beautyful 737 cockpit.

The Fenix Airbus is getting more and more jealous and I don´t know what to do anymore to calm her down :frowning:
She is still my favorite but she does not understand that I need to learn Boeing-flying too for the glorious day when the Boeing 747 freighter is released.

Took the mighty Goose for a fishing trip at Shasta Lake north of Redding, CA.

Found a quiet spot in a bay and landed there.

Let’s hope for a bucket full of fish!

Flew from EHAM to EGGD. Spent most of the afternoon repainting my TBM with my corporate colours and getting the tail number to show. Its based on the default Asobo livery but looks nice I think.
