Starting to explore Africa. Left out of Cape Town. Going to work my way up from there leisurely. Took these shots just north of Cape Town. Misverstand Dam on the Berg River. The circular plots are curious, saw two of those green ones, then later spotted the others. Anyone know anything about them? There were some trees in the green one.
Tried OpenTrack and AITrack with the webcam I have clipped to the top of the monitor. Don’t know if I’ll use it often but it was cool to try, especially for free.
Knocked off a few landing challenges.
The circular areas are plots irrigated by a rotating boom from the centre. Water feeds in at the centre and as the whole thing rotates slowly water drips out of holes in the boom (think of the boom as being a radius of the circle). The outer circumference of the circle has a track where a wheel on the boom sits, taking the weight.
Quite clever, see them a lot in the US but none in the UK as far as I know.
Avoid using the default in-sim flight planner
Today i flown from St Petersburg to Moskauw(ULLI - UUEE)
The flight was good but at the APP the A320NX dosent folow no more the Route to the runway with loc on and dosent follow also the route from the fmc to the runway unfortunaly. So i must handfly the APP.
You’ll see them a lot in the desert, most effective way to irrigate.
For example in Egypt, looks like an IQ test
(It all looks black ish due to under exposure on the earial imagery, sand is too bright turning anything green into black. Needs HDR photography at the source)
I’ve seen those irrigation setups all over, they’re very common, even in my area but never from the air. Always new wonders to discover, even at my age.
If I had seen those first, I really would have been mystified. Amazing, that method is so common here in the States, I just never had seen it from the air.
you mean no bugs made you crash? wow you’re lucky! lol
I haven’t flown the sim since early December… came back to find a whole new set of bugs that are just beyond me… first takeoff was a disaster… the rudder went hard over… second takeoff made it up to level flight turned on auto pilot and rudder HARD over after about 3 minutes… on and on and on goes the story… Asobo made a wonderfully beautiful but very non functional sim… ugh… I’m beginning to wonder how long it’s going to take to have a working sim. Maybe I should come back in six months… nay, a year!
Signed,
Frustrated
Have you actually tried to sort some of them out - the game is getting better all the time but unless you keep up-to-date with the fixes you’re never going to be fully satisfied.
Yes, MSFS is still buggy but by following some of the advice found on here I’m having no problems whatsoever - in fact it’s very stable with no CTDs or dodgy graphics. I’m not, of course, trying to push the limits and run with generally “high” settings and every now and again tweaking something to see what happens.
As for the controllability, first check is are you on the Modern or Classic flight model? It seems that some settings can get changed in updates, quite random and inconsistent.
Fly Vancouver-Anchorage heavy nose winds 150 very turbulent at high altitudes, but nice weather in Anchorage
Another leg of the Pilots of the Caribbean - Spanish Cay to South Bimini
Frequent thunder and lightning even though not particularly cloudy - but some interesting cloud formations!
Back in Greenland at the Sodalen Landingstrip (or what was left of it).
Decided to do a short half hour leg bringing me closer to BGKK (Kulusuk Airport), but not quite. Crossing some water and landing in between some islands. Everything is frozen anyway.
At Sodalen, somebody left a large barrel of fuel so I filled up my tanks and also took another tank worth of fuel in the passenger seat. Just in case.
No real challenge except I think I need to correct for magnetic variation which I didn’t do so my heading was more south than it needed to be. I looked it up now and the magnetic variation here is almost 20°W. I need to brush up on how that works again … because where I usually fly it’s only 2° or something and on my short distances I don’t really use it.
But here, it might explain me being off.
Luckily, I can still use elapsed time and the coast line as navigation aids.
ANYWAY, I arrived at the islands and did a stop there.
Holiday Slideshow Inside
I’m a very light pilot, the rest is fuel and some imaginary “food”.
I was waiting for the CHT to come in the green, but it really doesn’t at < 5000 rpm.
I took all the fuel from Sodalen with me. Cleaning up!
Some ice …
I’ll go inside here to land.
WAT!?
I’ll pretend I won’t die camping here and continue my trip later …
Looks like something on your end. Likely duplicate controls or incorrect deadzones/calibration.
Anyways, it’s on your end, not the sim.
Just finished a flight from SAEZ to FACT in the FBW A32NX. 8 hours of smooth, no CTD, -87 fpm landing on RW19 and coasting into the gate flying!
