I’m really not sure if this is going to buy me anything at this stage of the game, but I’m getting the infrastructure in place, primarily to help tune setups as my needs mature.

Time spent now, and even that should be minimal, will save you time later. Next time you want to try out some new addon config, or disable a few things, it’s just a case of unticking some boxes.
