What did you do in MSFS today? (Part 2)

Had some of the nicest Live Weather clouds flying up the St. Lawrence River, towards Montreal from Kingston

Took the ol’ FD CTSL out for a spin from John Wayne (KSNA) to Big Bear (L35), which is mostly a straight climb to get over the mountains, then landing.

Passing the Tustin blimp hangars:

Negative speed flaps for cruise finally work as of a sim update or two ago. Very nice.

Descending towards Big Bear; the wind favors runway 8 which requires a right pattern, so I’ll be turning left from here into the downwind leg.

I took the Boeing 307 on a 35 minute hop around Oahu this evening. Lovely bird.

Was a beautiful flight, well until the CTD at around the 70%, flying from New York to Chicago Midway. Next test will be no add-ons. Also, I have no idea what the recent update will bring. I’ve got time. I’m retired. Oh, yeah, for the first time GSX had a major boo-boo with conflicting jetways at Feel Free’s La Guardia. So, I learned me another dimension of GSX and killed all their jetways there.

Just recently, I’ve been getting deeply into helicopters. Gives me a great opportunity to improve my skills, fly really slowly and admire the scenery.

So, I finally decided to venture out of the Pacific Northwest from my home on Whidbey Island. I took off from KEAT Pangbord Memorial to explore in the wonderful DHC-4 Caribou. I’m searching for the VR zoom button, and suddenly I lose engine power. I start my checks. Fuel boost gives me a touch more power, but not enough to stop descent. I start looking for a field to land on, when I notice my mixture is at idle. Mixture up, and engine power returns! Note to self, check the control maps. Finished up with a nice short field landing. What a sweet ride!

Wow looks stunning. All we need is a usable mesh to make the Rockies look, er, rocky and then it would be just like I remember it. MSFS 2024 give it to us!

More fun with the DoubleEnder, this time Darrington 1S2 and vicinity.

Gorgeous view in the valley, you can see Lake Cavanaugh just to the left of the front wheel.

Popped in to Kenmore Air to see what’s up. No runway, but the parking lot worked pretty well for an unauthorized arrival.

Puget Sound somewhere across from KPAE, after doing touch and go’s on the GA strip there. Where to next?
