One great thing about always doing my flying after dinner with real time settings is that sunsets are often a part of my flying.
Continuing on the South American section of my world tour tonight with the RV-14 along the Chilean coast with an eventual destination of La Serena, Chile.
Two day trip to the big show at Oshkosh. Flew the new Comanche 250 from A2A Simulations. Trip stats, 1577 Miles from KHJO (Hanford, California) to KOSH with overnight at KLBF (North Platte, Nebraska). Total flight time 13.1 hours. Flight was good all the way to Wisconsin with heavy smoke from Canadian wildfires at destination. Got to the show durning Mondays airshow so had to hold at C47 (Portage Municipal) for two hours before starting the Fisk Arrival. Had to go gear down and flaps to maintain the 1800ft and 90kts in the arrival. Got put in a one lap hold at Green Lake and then from Fisk to RWY 18R for a difficult approach do to the smoke. Could not see the “pink dot” from the downwind. Got help from the tower and nailed it. Was a long flight and very tired, but no rest as the show continues and dont want to miss anything.
YYC down to IAH as UA1915. Was nice to be able to actually receive an ATIS from the FMS when flying in the USA, and see something other than clear blue sky enroute!
I always get into world updates, and such a nice plane to match!! Aero 45 from LHBP to LYBT. Lots going on in this cockpit, looks like I need to brush up on my Czechoslovakian.
The textures in the Aero are super impressive, just gorgeous. I especially dig the cockpit view. Nice to fly, but a little challenging to get started, and super easy to kill the engine. Not sure about the prop control system, but pretty sure my bindings aren’t the best.
The Cessna airfield has a rather narrow and short runway, I guess it was meant for all the 172s and their kin, not the longitude, but according to what I could find on the internet, the factory there is where the Longitudes are made. There are of course trees at its end and they were pretty close on takeoff.
Other than that nothing much happened for a 2:30 long flight, so I will edit the video before uplading it, so it will take some while.
Trying to do some VOR navigation in a C152 in the East of the Netherlands & Italy.
Still don’t know how it exactly works. Sometimes I dial a frequency and don’t get any connection.
Other times it works without any problems.
