Flight #1: Checking out CU 4. Especially PG, weather and sunset over Genève were impressive:
Nome Alaska (PAOM) to Burrow Alaska (PABR) in the ATR 42 600
First flight in the DC-6, just a manual circuit - and it flew so well. The livery, which was published soon after the plane’s release, still works! Of course, I had still to go through all those very thorough PMDG YouTube training vids for a much longer flight to San Francisco. Film at 11. Cheers, Chums!
Love the paint scheme on this
Occasionally when giving birth, the baby can become stuck during delivery.
While waiting for help to arrive the mother will continue to keep her young warm and protected.
IRL, coming back from Americas, the last leg of its long journey was from Calshot to Berlin.
And that’s the flight I did on Dornier DO X.
Brighton
Dover
Rotterdam
Berlin
Landing at Lake Müggelsee
KDEN to SEA-TAC today. Nice approach past Rainier
Hazy day in Seattle
Tight parking, Ope let me scootch past ya there. Hey I hear ya have some good coffee here.
First verrrrrrrrrrry long flight in the DC6. Had an adventure switching over the tanks, but recovered - whew! Honolulu to San Francisco, 8 hours… system and sim worked fine.
Now, where did I put my Beemans?
Munchen (EDDM) to Palma de Mallorca (LEPA) in the Longitude:
Love the perspective on this one, the Longitude seems as big as the airliner ahead
The weather in the vicinity of Munchen was just awesome. Had layers of clouds, the top one was over FL400.
Arrival to Mallorca was however my first negative experience with vatsim. There were a lot of aircraft departing and arriving and while I need to clearly state that I could not do LEPA APP’s work, but he seemed to manage as much as he could and simply ignored the rest. I was coming in from uncontrolled airspace as Marseille control logged off just as I was tuning to his frequency, so I sent him a text message through vpilot asking when I should switch over to him. Got no response. Then at the beginning of the STAR I called him on the radio and he actually answered to call him back in 5 minutes. So I continued the STAR for 5 minutes, then called him again. Got no response. I flew on, gradually dialing back speed and tried again. Got no response. Sent a text request, but got no response. So just as I was about 4500’ and pretty close to the FAF I got his first instructions to make a 180. Of course I got no priority to land and have nothing against doing some orbits or to hold position over a waypoint, but that should have been done a lot sooner. As for simply not answering, not even a “stand by”? That was so much not okay.
Full story once it uploads and processes here:
After 24 years of fixed wing flight simming I’m finally diving into helicopters. They’re awesome. They’re hell, but awesome.
So we went out looking for this chap on the North Sea…
Hoisted his wet bum up to the chopper…
Flew him to hospital in down town The Hague, just to be sure…
And later at night we repositioned from Rotterdam Airport back to De Kooy Naval Base, but did some proper coast guarding along the way, patrolling for illegal dumping and other environmental offences.
Probably scared the hell out of some fumbling teenagers though… It being a Saturday night and all.
Did a full vnav approach towards Kelowna for the first time, it was really nice! The twisting approach, beautiful mountains and a RNAV runway is just great fun!

P.s. this topic is great for getting some good flight ideas.
Flew the ATR 42 600 from Burrow Alaska and Landed at Fairbanks International
They are no “cooling towers” (like for nuclear power plants) but rather “regular” chimneys of the thermal power station in Altbach.
This is, indeed an error: should say “thermal power plant” … and these usually have no cooling towers. Why should they?
I mean their purpose in life is to produce mainly heat (from gas in this case) and thus something quite opposite to the cooling towers of a nuclear power plant that produces (mainly) electricity.
Cooling towers btw can be distinguished from “normal” chimneys as they are much wider to allow water trickling down the walls which is cooled by an upstream airflow that condenses above the top.
PS: one last remark: a nuclear power plant respective it’s cooling towers would most likely void any rwy 25 approaches if positioned at that spot due to it’s much wider and bigger smoke clouds it usually produces.
