I really had to try the Longitude in VR too, so I flew it from Budapest (LHBP) to Vienna (LOWW) too:
Approach and landing:
Flew the Fokker f28 4000 from Alliance to west Yellowstone airport
Fokker f28 4000 from West Yellowstone to KLWS airport
KLWS to KSEA (Seattle) in the Fokker f28 4000
When I saw those shots my first thought was, “Why is a giant white spider attacking the Louvre?”
I tried to fly the A2A PA-24 VFR into Bolzano (LIPB), an airport I’d never flown into before, in a blinding rainstorm. Visibility was zero all the way down to 50’. I circled trying to spot the airport and never did see it. All I saw was a rooftop from time to time.
A couple of times a mountain popped up right in front of me and somehow I managed to avoid them. I broke out in a cold sweat. After giving up on finding the AP, I changed the weather to clear skies just to see what it really looked like. I can’t believe I didn’t crash.
Flew from Nice LFMN to Munich EDDM entirely in VR via a meandering path over the northerly, then easterly arc of the Alps. Took the SC Designs F-16 so I could make good time and not burn too much of my Sunday evening. Was trying out the updated but unofficial-for-MSFS High LOD Bing maps. While these latest Bing maps have glitches here and there (time of year mismatches, tint mismatches, an occasional blank tile, etc.), using this imagery makes for much much much improved visuals. The difference is pretty stark. These image tiles have a lot more detail than the defaults. The HLOD image tiles are big files and flying at high speeds less than 500’ AGL, the loading can have a hard time keeping up and there are stuttery fps slowdowns when that happens. Slow down or get up higher or both and the problem goes away.
Heading towards Mont Blanc from the south:
Matterhorn from the Italian side:
Iconic Matterhorn view from the Swiss side:
Eiger and Moench looming above the Kleine Scheidegg between Wengen and Grinelwald:
Lake Como and the Bellagio peninsula:
Low over the lake then an afterburner climb out:
The Dolomites:
Innsbruck Stadtmitte and ski jump from the 1964 and 1976 Olymics:
And a quick pass over Munich before heading over to land at EDDM:
Seattle to PAKE in the Fokker f28 4000
For want of the energy to do anything more intelligent, I went airfield-hopping in the Austrian Alps.
On my way to my last airport, I spotted a mountaintop resort and went to take a closer look.
At the surrounding mountains:
At the resort itself:
A closer look at the resort:
And, finally, parked up at Zell am See (LOWZ):
I’m sure the Orbx version is excellent - in fact I know it is, because I believe I’ve seen it on AvAngel’s videos - but quelcertoleo’s freeware version was more than adequate for my purposes.
PAKE to Wrangle island in the Fokker f28 4000
Wrangle to Petersburg Alaska in the Fokker F28 4000
A tour of the South Cornwall coast in the FSR500 (what a great aircraft).
Hamburg to Dortmund (awful weather)
Some gliding over Cardiff bay and a little trip from EGGP along the River Mersey to see the new bridges I purchased (from RKBRIDGER) what an upgrade they are.
Neil.
I see photos are most liked… I’ll stay with that instead of streaming.
Decided to check out the Buddist Temple - Angkor Wat… Also decided to land in the water surrounding the temple.
Flew the Fokker f28 4000 from PAPG to PAJN
This is cool topic.
Today while taxi on an international airport. Some yellow car crossed my path and just sited in front of my propeller.
I fixed it by walking out to him roleplaying giving him a landing fee.
Than he rolled out. And I was free to continue taxi.
I had an itch to get a flying boat so grabbed the Goose in the sale. Probably one of the more beautifully modeled 3rd party planes I own tbh, especially from the external view. Really nice.
Juno to Anchorage completing Alaskan flight 65’s milk run route but instead of using a 737 combi I used the Fokker f28 4000
