KLAX to the Windy City

Continuing the around the world trip, today we flew from Manchester, NH to Sydney, Nova Scotia. Making an early start of it yielded to a fantastic sunrise on the way up. ATC vectored me into CYQY and I decided to bring her in by hand. The landing was a bit…misaligned, but I think the ol’ TBM survived the experience.

Also, have you ever let the intrusive thoughts win? Thoughts such as, “I wonder what will happen if I open this door at 21,000 feet?” Turns out all sorts of warnings go off, and it was a bit difficult to breathe, too. Go figure.

Today’s flight takes us from Little Rock, Arkansas to Oklahoma

Plane of choice - Icon A5

It’s weird, before I discovered this site I was flying around and snapping photos just randomly just because I thought it was cool and the Icon A5 was my plane of choice. I just found it so interesting, as it wasn’t superfast, and you can easily find many planes faster so you can travel further faster, but something about that little plane has me going back to it ever since I was rejected by Air Canada (my story).

I flew on in the Vision Jet from Kos (LGKO) to Antalya (LTAI) in VR using BeyondATC:

I forgot to turn on Volanta, so no statistics and instead of actual route, the planned route:

I love this little jet. Though it is pretty slow for a jet, the view is unmatched and is a real joy in VR too.

I recorded the approach and landing in both 2D and 3D SBS:

LFPG to KJFK. SI did a great job of ATC and even let me negotiate a strange direction to do a turn that made no sense and all was back on track. Odd that Inibuilds put people in their terminals, but not at KLAX. Cheers.

A short hop down in Middle-Earth, Christchurch to Auckland. Stunning approach as the sun set. I might go work for Air New Zealand full time…

First, let me state that I apologize if this is a long-winded post.

I did the weekly flight today, did it solo as per usual and while doing it I learned something that I wanted to share more so for the newer crowd, those that haven’t flown much and just starting out.

Beechcraft Bonanza - If you’re looking for a plane to start out with, choose this one, it’s the easiest one to fly. This is why I say that
For take-offs, depending on the length of the runway you really don’t need to help it take off, but at times you do have to pull back on the yoke in order to help it off the ground. Now once it’s off the ground it’s a very gentle fly, once you get it up to the 500 nautical miles in order for that option to get checked on the left side of the screen the plane for the most part just coasts by that I mean you really don’t have to touch the yoke because you can push the speed to the max and the plane will slowly climb, it won’t shoot right up causing it to stall it will be a slow climb, and you can even just set the controller on your lap or even on the floor with it at max speed, and it will stay the course (keep in mind it will drift a little bit either right or left) but if you have a flight plan set unless your plane is required to turn or land you really don’t have to do anything.
Plus, the added bonus of taking this plane is that once you get comfortable with it, and you’re looking for some flights to do, you can do the weekly flight as it’s one of the recommended ones by the folks here at FlightSimulator.com
It’s a free plane that you already have so no extra coin is needed, and it’s got decent speed I believe the cruise speed is 175 nautical miles which I would say for the free ones you get, it’s a little above the average speed.

My next flight no doubt tomorrow or tonight I’ll be checking out the helicopters as I discovered a simple trick with the Dragon Fly (that’s what I call it cause to me that’s what it looks like… It’s the Dune-copter) in order to make it easier to fly so if you want to join some of the folks to fly helicopters here on the forum you’ll be able to do that.

Flew from NZCH to YSSY today on my world tour… now to cross australia in a GM plane

A post was merged into an existing topic: Bush trip flight plans?

Here is a thought:

I land perfectly almost always. I am not bragging, I am only stating a fact to make a point.

Despite almost always landing perfectly, I mostly get a C or B in Landing Challenges. This morning, I had a terrible landing as per my yardstick, in an airplane that I have never flown since I got my initial lessons in it, on Sedona Landing Challenge in high winds, yet I got an A and a top score!

Beats me!

As I prepared to fly towards Goose Bay, looking ultimately to cross over to Greenland, I was surprised by a generous benefactor with a new plane: the FSR 500. Slower than the TBM, but a beauty to look at. So, I jumped in, waited for my refueling and passengers, and headed off towards the runway.

As we went off, I heard a strange sound, almost like a rip and a clunk, then something dragging behind me. Seems I forgot to disconnect the GPU.

Back to parking for us all and we will try again tomorrow after I fill out a mountain of paperwork and write a check for repairs…

There are several MSFS airports around the Simpson Desert.

However, I used an airstrip created by my friend Gunther, a seasoned pilot, a wonderful storyteller and a versatile contributor to MSFS.

His every pack is immersive and helpful.
