Flew the a125 helicopter around Rochester again
MSFS 2024:
I was in the mood for the R66. Not a typical medical helicopter, but I didn’t mind.
I asked ChatGPT for a mission. Here’s my prompt:
“Create a mission scenario for an medical emergency helicopter flight. Area: Austrian Alps. Choose a random departure at an airport. Choose a random elevated village with no airfield close. For the arrival choose a hospital with a helicopter pad. Total distance to travel less than 50 nautical miles.”
It got the distances wrong, but I didn’t care if the flight was longer. That patient needed help!
Here’s what ChatGPT got me (shortened):
"A skier in the remote village of Heiligenblut has suffered a severe leg fracture and possible internal injuries after a fall. Immediate evacuation is required to prevent complications due to high-altitude exposure and limited medical resources in the village.
Departure Airport: LOKL (Lienz-Nikolsdorf Airport)
Intermediate Location (Patient Pickup): Heiligenblut am Großglockner
Coordinates: 47°01′N, 12°51′E
Landing Site: Open clearing near the village outskirts
Destination Hospital: Klinikum Klagenfurt am Wörthersee, rooftop helipad"
We got there in one piece:
On the Makran Coast of Pakistan, there is a hammerhead-shaped peninsula near the city of Ormara known as a horst. These geological formations occur when blocks of Earth’s crust that have been lifted remain stationary while land on either side sinks. This particular horst used to be an island, however, over time, the action of waves and drifting sands created a long sand bridge that connects the island to the mainland.
What did I do today? I got the weird idea to launch simultaneously MSFS2020 and MSFS2024, both in dev.mode/Scenery Editor. On one side for updating an airport scenery in MSFS2020 and on the other side, update the exclusion scenery for the same airport in MSFS2024. With Gimp and Blender and other stuff as well. Not really practicable but fun to do ![]()
Sorry, but I don’t experience these issues. Not even once have I had a CTD. That is with a number of (some not yet officially supported) addons. ![]()
Regarding ATC: I don’t use default ATC since 2020. ![]()
Another random HEMS scenario generated by my ChatGPT prompt. This time very accurate on first try.
I also tinkered and made a Python script that I can feed the coordinates for the patient pickup. It reads my position via SimConnect. It periodically announces the rough direction (N, NE etc.) and when we’re 20, 10, 5, and 2 miles out. Finally it asks me to find a suitable place to land.
Rochester to Buffalo in the Albatross
finally got to truly enjoy the sim after finding a solution to frequent random CTD’s and instability issues
Love the little scratches on the window, great attention to detail
Yes.
That would be cool.
