What did you do in MSFS today? (Part 2)

MD-11 flight from LEGR to LEIB in MSFS 2020. My poor passengers almost went for a swim before they even got off the plane when, as happens much too often, I hit TOGA instead of reversers! That’s what I get for binding those functions to buttons on opposite sides of my throttle.

Today I flew a short aerobatic display with the P-51 over EDBK Kyritz. I think Asobo’s P-51 in combination with Randall Snow’s Improvement Mod, Echo 19’s Precision Audio Pack and one of Bomber12th’s repaints makes for the ultimate P-51 in MSFS =)

Here’s a video of the flight including external views for startup, takeoff, landing & shutdown and a full “spectator view” replay at the end. I hope you’ll agree, that the new soundset is awesome =)

… Found the correct settings to fully enjoy MSFS2024 SU2 Beta 2 at constant 60 fps. Nothing better at Las Vegas than a C172 VFR departure from runway 1L then left turn after take-off (when able) to flight over the strip, with FSLTL trafic all around and Say.Intentions.

Congrats! We also had our first baby last May, been gradually getting back to simming, usually late in the evenings when the baby has gone to bed. :slightly_smiling_face:

Both deserve a warm welcome

Continued the World Tour, from Kariba in Zimbabwe to Chileka Intl. in Malawi. This was a night flight in the SWS PC-12 to test out a truly IFR flight and she handled it like a champ. Not everything is fully automatic, which is fine by me as it give you more to do on the descent. I did upgrade the GNS 430 to the GTN 750 simply for ease of use and accuracy - the touch screens are just so much nicer in that regard. That said, I still plan on relying mostly on radio navigation, but it’s nice to have the GPS units in areas where VORs are less common. ATC via SayIntentions was fantastic throughout the trip.

Overall, we had clear skies, which was terrific to do a bit of stargazing on the flight over. Something about night flights just hits different - the dark cockpit with the expansive heavens above. Truly relaxing.

VLG2117 LEBL-LEMG. Came in too high the first time (BATC old vectoring engine is showing its age), so I came in onto ILSY12 and switched over to 13 on late final so taxi would be shorter=happy pax. Landing was textbook: right on the markers, super smooth, no float at all. I can’t wait for the Fenix NEOs!

Orlando (KMCO) 20 knot crosswind landing in 737 Max 8. Landing challenges are exciting and fun. Can’t believe they are not a thing.

Did a long flight (Toronto to Edinburgh, UK) late last night / early this morning. Not sure if it was my internet or twitch acting up but it didn’t catch my entire flight. I may redo it another day but I deleted the post from above.

On that note I got the latest leg of the world tour

Landed the Citation CJ4 in Aspen (KASE) on RW33. This was VFR in IMC in a mountain valley. No IFR, No ILS, No GLS, No RNAV, No nothing. RW33 has no published approaches. Fun times flying in a mountain valley.

Video had clickable table of contents.

I bought the P180 Avanti, really is a nice looking aircraft.

Glass screens are a bit on the small side to read, so I set up two custom camera views on the left side HAT switch on my stick :

  1. Pressed up, for the view I fly with :

And 2. Pressed down for a quick zoom in on the small numbers - very fast to operate, just like glancing down and then back up irl

Now for my flight plan :

What’s that!!!

Well so far I’ve learned ndb-adf; VOR ; the 430 and 530 ; pms 750 ; G1000 and G3000 ….. but not that.
I’ve dutifully steered clear of those.
After much searching, I discovered I can’t swap it out for a pms 750.

Well, that’s tomorrow sorted out.

One thing I did learn today is what the condition levers do in idle cut off.
