i love stkp but i think he may be trying to do too much. i only need the logbook and fleet tracking functions!!
What part of SkyVector is payware? Iād be interested in supporting it, but I have seen any paid features.
All planning is free, i don“t think you can donate. If i dont remember wrong they had an API that you had to pay for. Maybe they removed it.
But skyvector is free
Are you using the SimConnectServer with this. I would like to run this application on a different computer.
When I click on the SimConnectServer.exe it doesnāt open up.
Thanks for suggesting this application!!
I am not using SimConnectServer, because I got 3 screens. But he just updated something in regards to the server. Maybe this helps?
Otherwise there will be help in their Discord for sure. Some very active mods there!
I only ever use it for USA and Australian domestic flights, and itās always complete. You may have to slightly work some out on your own - often it may just have the last waypoint then DCT meaning vectors or direct to final etc. or itās worded slightly odd to the naked eye and not naming a STAR but instead the transition waypoint into a specific STAR that you might neee to look up to work out which one it is.
The other problem is the filed
route Often only appears in the hour or two before the flight - so you cant be planning a day ahead etc. that may be why they arenāt there when you look? I jump on an hour or two before Iām ready to fly and work out which route I want and plan from there
This is typical of Australia. You generally donāt insert the SID or the STAR in to the flightplan, ATC will assign it to you. e.g. you wouldnāt go DOSEL1 DOSEL Y59 RIVET RIVET3.
Australia publishes standard routes in the Enroute Supplement Australia (ERSA). From page 20, standard routes are listed. https://www.airservicesaustralia.com/aip/current/ersa/GUID_ersa-fac-2-2_13AUG2020.pdf - This is what is really used, versus what sometimes PFPX may generate, or what simbrief thinks is the most popular/preferred route, which in some cases in Australia is wildly incorrect, especially around Sydney.
Australian SIDs and STARs can be viewed in the terminal charts located here http://www.airservicesaustralia.com/aip/current/dap/AeroProcChartsTOC.htm
The confusing part is that some standard routes from the ERSA donāt actually show the SID or STAR waypoints as the first waypoint, e.g. Melbourne to Sydneyās standard route is DCT ML H129 DOSEL Y59 TESAT DCT. The SID goes via DOSEL, and the STAR for that route begins at RIVET, which is on the Y59 airway. Flightaware will show some flightplans like this, or DCT DOSEL Y59 RIVET, since the SID and STAR will be flown before and after those waypoints.
Hahaha - Thanks for sharing!
LittleNavMap
Simbrief + Airac from Navigraph
Navigraph is the only option IMO. Real charts on AIRAC cycle and will sync with MS FS soon so that both your nav data in FS and Navigraph will be exact match. That with moving maps on Airport charts for taxi ways and APR plates make Navigraph the best IMO.
Navigraph is only useful for IFR now right? This sim got me doing VFR and I use skydemon for Pc on the second monitor now.
For people who understand French there is another great free tool here:
http://francois.fouchet.free.fr/
Itās an old-style interface but quite powerful with a worldwide database of airports, navaids and other features. A bit daunting at first but even as a non-pilot I figured it out pretty quickly. You can import different free and paid VFR maps into it, both tiled and single images (Open Flight Maps, Cartabossy, IGN/OACI etc.)
What I do is plan my flight in this software using IGN/OACI 1:500000 maps which are great for VFR. It is possible to connect to MSFS to have live tracking but this kind of defeats the purpose of doing VFR, so I just use it as a digital map. It will generate a list of turning points and show you headings, altitude, live weather etc.
