for 20 bucks its worth it thanks for the write up i’m off to buy it and play around.
everything here costs a packet
i’ve also owned ActivePie since they started. Smashing little company that do weather well. They also did a great job of integrating it into stock and study level aircraft weather radar.
I should point out, too, that, along the lines of the purpose of MSFS is as a technology demonstrator for Microsoft’s myriad business interests and tools, the weather system may fall into that category as well. Perhaps MeteoBlue can be used to simulate more than just weather (financial markets?), or maybe just having a weather simulator/predictor is useful as a tool they can sell for other businesses.
Hence their desire to retain control of it and get it right.
Same problem here. Took off from KDEN w/ QNH 30.12. On my way on up got cleared to the next step. I was only at about 3,000 AGL when I was cleared for the next step. The end of the controllers transmission said Altimeter 30.31. On my way up to cruise received a couple more altimeter readings each over .07" higher than the previous one.
Seems there’s still issues with high alt airports.
I’ve been fly around Bogotá, elev 8,400ft. Halfway through the approach QNH will very quickly jump from somewhere around 29.8-9ish, to the METAR value, which is usually very high, 30.30ish.
Seems the Meteoblue model doesn’t handle elevation well so the area values are extremely inaccurate, and the smoothing isn’t designed for such a large change, when coming in rage of the local METAR.
Hi, for the first time I could fly several flights with real weather and clouds rendered It was yesterday just after latest 1.11.6 update. Today when I was planning the flight on the map the weather seemed very accurate (comparing to Skyvector), but then clear sky again and old bug wind 223/3 kts.
Why is that? Why is it hit and miss thing?
there’s a trick someone posted earlier in this thread
set clear sky preset
start flight
exit to main menu
start flight
select live weather
that seems to clear this
Press repair at the app settings. At least this is what fixed it for me.
fly the EGPU RNAV-6 approach today at UTC1400 stable 36kt 30deg off runway. TBM930 did very well.
Tip : Approach path to the left edge of the runway so at final flare you get blown to middle if strong wind from left.
Will try this - thanks
Repair??? Where is it?
Left click Start, scroll down, right click Microsoft Flight Simulator, hover cursor above more, left click App settings. Scroll down, press repair.
Thanks,It closed my sim, what I wanted to avoid - we all know reset of sim solves problem, but it takes so much time…But maybe it is repaired now Will report
Weather continues to confound. Eastern Basil this afternoon:
…And of course, almost persistent thunder and lightening. “Dar n!”, says I, “It’s back!” as I listen to ATIS telling me about the 6km visibility in heavy rain.
So I check on Windy.com … Guess what I find? - rain, cloud, thunderstorms. Turns out the pressure, temperature, wind, and thunder are all pretty much correct… just not the blue sky.
I’d report to Zendesk … Something is clearly broken, but I can’t figure out what it is any more.
That’s a great shot.
Did 6 or so hours of flying this weekend, and live weather has had its ups and downs. While it’s great having accurate METAR data the way the weather engine injects clouds are just a nightmare and I’m constantly getting IMC conditions when nothing of the sort should exist.
Today while flying down the gulf coast of Florida there were forecasted rain showers, but with cloud bases of 10,000 ft. I got the realistic rain depicted but clouds with a ceiling of a thousand feet or less and 1-mile visibility. Seems like if the weather engine sees rain, then it instantly means clouds to the surface. In these cases, I sadly need to switch to REX and completely lose the rain but get vaguely correct clouds with all the other downsides.
Also, winds aloft are very hit and miss, and abrupt mid-flight wind direction and pressure changes are frustrating.
I just bought the scenery pack for St. Martin, and Grand Case, and wanted to try out the M20R here.
I have Live players only, Live weather turned on.
The 530 is showing 2-4kts:
The windsock would seem to reflect this:
What is not clear in this shot are the trees behind the still, and upright, palm trees, which are being blown around like a hurricane is hitting them. The sea is equally perturbed:
Some of the trees are moving so much they are horizontal!
I had just taken off. and was looking out my left wing to take some shots of the wind, when my aircraft just updended, like someone had grabbed a hold of it, and thrown it to the ground!
The only time I’ve seen weather this bad was when I manually set up 150kt winds, and even then it was somewhat controllable as long as you were head on to it!
Can’t reconcile what I see with what the 530 is showing.
I used slew mode to raise myself up to around 5000ft, and the air was smooth.
As I descended through 1000ft back, wind speed rapidly picked up, and at around 800ft I saw this:
At 700ft:
600ft:
500ft:
The bursts now make it uncontrollable. Using slew mode to lower a bit further, and at 200ft its back to normal:
I think live weather is slightly broken here!
Just got cleared to land at Grand Case…how about no!
I did manage to land, by using slew to get below this high speed wind layer of about 500ft, and as I taxied the trees stopped freaking out, and weather returned to normal.
I think someone rebooted something just then.
