ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
I don’t know really how to describe it, but it seems the sim overloads my CPU and my GPU via RdrThread and my system doesn’t know how to react, causing the sim runs to like very low framerate for a fairly recent system, even for MSFS 2024 and I have rather mid-high options. At first, I thought it was a scenery issue, especially in inibuilds Heathrow. Then, it seemed to be really random on any scenery and any plane.

So I’m thinking it might be my PC’s configuration that’s causing the problem. First, I tried the latest Nvidia driver (I was previously on 566.36), and it still happens.
So I decided to format the hard drive and reinstall Windows 10. It worked fine for a few days, and now I’m almost certain it’s caused by the latest builds.

Look at the screens below from the dev mode how the RAM and VRAM are NOT saturated

Did you experience this issue before you joined the Beta?
Kinda. It may happens one or two times that since SU 1 released but I’m not sure. It’s started to get way worse since build 1.4.14.

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
Yes,the whole sim was reinstalled without my community folder.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

I would say it happens about two out of three times on the latest beta builds.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. First, check if I didn’t have any custom doubles sceneries though Dev Mode > Tools > Packages.
  2. Delete everything on AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and uninstall/reinstall with Steam and let the sim regenerates the default package without make any change
  3. So at some point I realized that it might be my Setup and Windows that had a problem, so I reinstalled Windows and all its updates. I didn’t have any problems for a while but it just started again.

Did a little searching and found a couple of options - do you guys have “Citrix workspace” installed on your machine? If so, uninstall it and try again. If you don’t have Citrix on your machine, go into the Nvidia control panel app and find the setting for “Antialiasing - FXAA” and make sure it’s turned off.

Thanks for the information, unfortunately, I don’t have Citrix workspace nope, and Antialiasing - FXAA is already disabled in the Nvidia control panel, and can’t be activated anyway in the program settings

In my case RdrThread gets filled up when in VR and looking towards terminal buildings on larger airports, see also Bug in Foveated Rendering related to RdrThread

Can confirm this is happening to me too. So annoying.

I had great performance in SU1, but moving to the beta early on saw my RdrThread spiking to 250+ and my FPS tanking. I reverted to SU1 and the issues went away so I’m satisfied it’s not an addon, driver or similar issue. Since, SU2 has gone live, and the issues I faced have returned.

With FG, I generally see 60-100fps depending on where I am at with no stutters. I’ve run every graphic settings on highest with exception of motion blur which is off. In SU2 when I spawn in I’m facing very low fps and a render thread that is excessive.

Eventually this does go away, but sometimes only until I move my camera and then it spikes again. This makes it very difficult to play; infact impossible and very frustrating. Sometimes I can get the FPS to remain good and have a good flight fo the most part, but the RdrThread has significant spikes when arriving at the airport I’m landing at, generally just as I’m 50ft above the ground - sim turns into a slideshow and I have a terrible landing.
I would do anything to just go back to SU1 but I know that’s not possible.

I’m on Windows 11 with 7800X3D and a 4090, 64GB DDR5 RAM. Nvidia drivers updated a couple of days ago.

Having found comfort 2024 was running well for me in SU1, I’ve started to enjoy simming more. I’ve recently purchased new hardware to go along with it to improve my experience, but it’s all useless if the sim can’t run. I’m hopeful I can find a solution.

Thanks god, i’m not alone.
I spend already more than 1 week for investigation.
Tried everything, even clean full re-install Windows and MSFS.
Tried SU2-beta, SU2, SU3-beta. Nothing help.
And most annoying part:
1 flight from 5-8 attempts - loading amazing good. SAME plane + SAME scenery + SAME date/weather, i have 60fps.
Next free flight loading in same condition - 5-10fps.
I’m just giving up and await some update.
