What next?

tis the time of year to think about the fleet composition..

With the following 3rd party aircraft in the hangar (PMDG 736, Fenix 320, CRJ, Dash 7) what to get next?

Obviously awaiting the PMDG 2024 update to start enjoying that again, I’m not particularly interesting in multiples of the same family (319/321 etc).

When they eventually arrive the JustFlight F70/100, BlueBird 757 and the mythical Majestic Q8 400 are definite additions.

The FSS Ejets are very much a sometime maybe based on their continued failure to deliver promised features so far.

In terms of what’s available now then it may be between the A350 or the PMDG 777F, I’m not particularly interested in flying long haul and would use either of these as short/mid with occasional long.

Anything else that’s worth thinking about?

I recommend the Just Flight Fokker F28 Professional. It’s not cheap, but you get a lot of airplane for the money. It flies well in FS2024 as a short to mid-haul steam gauge airliner. Good systems depth, and the current version is surprisingly easy on system resources.

I thought about that, however the potential similarities with the F70/100 when they arrive made me hold off so far.

I bought the F28 when it was released, but couldn’t fly it because it ground my computer to a halt.
20-25 FPS @ 4K wasn’t going to cut it.

I hopped back into the recent upgrade version and was quite pleasantly surprised at the improved performance. I’ll probably buy the F70/100 as well.

The Aerosoft 340 with Toliss is highly anticipated.

Been flying the TFDi MD-11F lately, it’s definitely more challenging than a 737 or A230

Not available yet in ‘24 :face_with_bags_under_eyes: I will buy this when it comes out, looks a good challenge.

VR not supported yet either for those into VR.

Not supported but it does work, I only fly in 2024. If you’re looking for native support I think you just about nailed the ones available, but i don’t think the bluebird 757 will be native 24 IIRC.

As @wcc96387 said, MD-11 works (actually fine) in MSFS2024. There’s only the layout.json file manual update necessary when updating Navigraph database, plus it requires to fool the MD-11 installer to install it into a ghost MSFS2020 Community folder (if there’s no MSFS2020 installed) and then copy it to MSFS2024 community folder. I would wait for the official FS24 release if you still don’t own the aircraft though.

I use addon linker and I believe I just installed it into my “airplanes” folder and use addon linker to activate it for the sim. I’m not at my computer yet so can’t say for sure but I recall having to manually select where it installed

I’ve done it the way I described because I didn’t have MSFS2020 installation available anymore when I tried to install it into MSFS2024. And as I recall the MD-11 installer was checking for MSFS2020 Community folder path which didn’t exist on my computer. So I had to create a UserCfg.opt file with path to a made-up MSFS2020 Community folder. Anyway, what I wanted to say, it still requires some tampering and probably it’s better to wait with the purchase for the official FS24 version.

Related to the above. I had a similar problem with the Black Square Baron Pro. Just Flight apparently hard codes the installer to put the files into ‘Community.’

This is a post from another thread that solved it without having to worry about editing the UserCfg.opt file.

I joined the BKSQ forum yesterday to ask whether it was possible to select my Addons_Linker folder as the package install target, since by default it installs into Community (which I don’t want.)

Using the BROWSE switch as described here worked like a charm. The instructions I got were to copy the extracted package folder into a temp folder and run setup.exe from there in a CMD window, i.e.

D:\BKSQtemp\Install_bksq_baronpro_msfs2024_0.1.0\setup.exe BROWSE
