What other GA aircraft would you all like to see?

That’s all very well if there are aircraft in the current inventory that work for you - and for me there isn’t a one! Thanks to Bush League Legends and Got Gravel I am in the sim but I still fly FSX as much as MSFS to enjoy my sort of (add on) aircraft.

We are of the same vintage then bj545  I never had the privilege of actually working on these although I did come face to face with one when I did have the privilege, in the early 1990s, of being responsible for the aircraft in what was then the ‘RAF Museum Reserve Collection’, now the RAF Museum Cosford. It was complete and parked outside with all of the high lift devices, flaps slates at al hanging down. We were forecast for stormy weather so I had the guys tie it down with 4 very hefty concrete blocks. The next morning we discovered that it had moved about 4 or 5 yards across the hardstanding, taking half a ton of concrete with it! Thankfully no damage done. I then tasked the guys with getting the flaps and slats retracted. When they removed the headlining in the pax cabin I could not believe the rat’s nest of cables, pulleys, sprockets and bicycle chains that managed the high lift deployment. I had a very good friend who had worked on the Twin Pin in Aden and I asked him if he would come along and help us sort it out. Not on your life was his response. In the end we took the easy way out and moved the aircraft into a hangar.

That aircraft remains in the collection at Cosford to this day.

I understand that thinking if you are wanting a hardcore bush plane.

My thinking was more along the lines of coming from X-plane, MSFS already has a great selection of stock GA aircraft, but they pale in comparison to the flight modeling, G1000 interaction, and depth of systems compared to X-plane. So I figure they need to get a handle on more completely modeling what they have before they go for more airplanes. Also with X-plane I am used to something like what you are wanting being readily available by third party developers, and when they migrate to MSFS that is when the MSFS experience is going to really take off.

I guess this is touching on a key issue surrounding the whole MSFS experience. There is, as you say a good selection of GA aircraft but, predominantly, glass cockpits that don’t function too well. With the XCub I do my usual flight planning with chart, protractor and rule, turn the G3X screen to ‘FULL’, ignore the auto pilot and fly. The Carbon Cub, of course, has old fashioned instruments. I don’t like glass cockpits, I don’t understand them and am not at all interested in learning them (I have spent many an unhappy hour reading on line manuals). The biggest problem that I have is actually seeing the numbers, so constantly zooming in and out as linear displays aren’t necessarily intuitive.

I absolutely agree with you that when third party developers are able to port over their aircraft then it is going to be a step change. There are so many good things about MSFS and I am waiting - somewhat impatiently  - for the aircraft scene to move on.

yep. I fly VR too so those G1000s are VERY hard to read. I think that MSFS pushing to release just used so many glass cockpits because they are easy to transfer from plane to plane. In X-plane you have steam gauges, 430s, 530s, skyviews, etc…but yeah alot of it comes from third parties.

I would hazard a guess that the vast majority of Club owned aircraft will have good old steam gauges.

GPS will be provided via the renter’s own mobile unit.

Amen to that prospect :+1:t2: I currently use Plan G as a moving map on a separate monitor, very handy especially for night flying - which I am not too good at!

I see that Just Flight are working on the Hawk T1/1A - that’ll be fun in the Loop, although I would personally prefer the Hunter.

Getting additional addon aircraft for the sim and Asobo fixing the ones that come with the sim are two different things. It’s not one or the other. Addon devs exist. They dont have a sole responsibility to fix the base game’s faults, though some CHOOSE to do so (like FBW and Working Title).

Just Flight porting their Hawk T.1 or Milviz porting their C310 over to msfs isnt somehow going to work against Asobo making fixes to the base aircraft… In this example Just Flight and Milviz have NO obligation to make fixes or work on base game aircraft that they had nothing to do with, so them working on their own payware addons doesnt detract from the fixing of the base game by Asobo.

In short, quit being the police, let people dream, and let addon devs do what addon devs are gonna do.

I mean this with all respect but what you are saying is rather obvious and I don’t think anyone would disagree. I think the main point was given limited resources at MS/Asobo I would rather them evolve the existing flight models, depth of systems, and aircraft rather than add new ones. Obviously when you bring third parties into the equation then all things are possible, which is what we have seen with X-plane forever…some really, really great models.

I am not interested in add ons.

I paid for the MSFS Premium version and quite a lot of the GA aircraft are flawed.

I should not have to pay out more good money for an add on aircraft if Asobo/MS fixed those that are broke

Where did you see that “Pilatus planes should definitely come”?

From a purely selfish point of view the planes I fly (steam gauge low and slow) are fine and the ones that are badly broken (mainly airliners) I never fly. So for me PERSONALLY I am more than happy to see more planes I might fly like the Twin Otter or the Staggerwing.

However, taking a more reasonable perspective, people have purchased the sim to fly things that are currently broken like airliners and the existing default aircraft supplied with the sim do need to at least work. I would agree this should be a priority along with more testing before releasing patches as the current patch situation is approaching a slapstick comedy where we all wait to see what they break next.

Whether they should add more features to the existing planes or leave that to the 3PD is another question altogether. Sometimes what people call “broken” is actually a complaint about missing features.

Sure, but that’s not what this thread is about.

This thread is about: “What OTHER GA aircraft would you LIKE to see”

Not: “Would you rather have asobo focus on making new planes or improve the included planes” or “Would you rather have new planes or improved planes”

Getting improvements to the sim and getting addon aircraft can both happen simulatenously. It’s not some ‘one or the other’ type thing.

Everyone want’s the base sim to be good, that’s stating the obvious and isn’t the point of the post.

Regarding aircraft I would like to see addressed would be the Aeronca Champ 7AC (my first solo), Taylorcraft L2 Member of the McChord Aero Club, Beechcraft T34 Mentor (also McChord Club and really fun to fly, Beechcraft G Staggering Wing (spent hours rebuilding and flying one), and the Cessna 140A (only got marginally ok with wheel landing and would like to get better).

I agree with every one that we first need to correct many issues with the current crop of plains.

Like to see a Cessna 206 Skywagon. Would also be great to be able to take my pants off in the Default 172, errr I mean take the wheel pants off in the default 172!

Hi All,

It seems as if this sim was developed by the “younger generation” as its lacks many vintage aircraft. I’d like to see…
Douglas DC3 - DC9
Lockheed Constellation
Boeing 707 - 737
Convair 880 - 990.
