I’ve made a test app that can handle TTS and STT, clone voices with 3 seconds of audio, read the navigraph database, connect to the sim and update/read values, display maps etc.
Basically, everything you might want.
Only, I’ve got no idea what my end goal is. So, I ask, what’s a tool/addon you wish existed but doesn’t?
Unrealistic:
Something that transforms my desk from “day job” mode to “Flight Sim” mode. Granted I have it down to about 4 minutes to changeover, which is about the time for FS2024 to start up, but would welcome some automation.
Realistic:
- Something that catalogs all of the premium airports I have installed/available, including Asobo hand-crafted, Marketplace and third-party/freebies. I’ve tried to PowerShell this, but it’s not as easy as it seems, especially since hand-crafted are streamed and I don’t think one can parse a manifest.json file until it loads. However, I’ll have to dig and see if someone has already done this.
- An all-in-one backup tool for all my flightsim files, in case my computer goes kaput. I do this in bits and pieces, including an hourly batch file that uses Robocopy to backup my most important asset: my Spad.Next profiles. There are some other things I should backup regularly as well, but I only do infrequently.
Something that allows for a shared cockpit experience. Would love to have a real copilot.
Fully recognize this might be an Asobo thing and not possible for an addon but would be great.
That’s an interesting idea.
My first thought is a client/server architecture where the clients sync their inputs and receive current state of controls. The problem would be one person would need to be the sort of “host” where the other person (presumably the copilot) would be getting a constant stream of position/heading etc updates, basically constantly teleporting them. I don’t think it would make for a very good experience for the copilot.
Especially if they wanted to take control.
I’ve not tried them so can’t vouch for how well they work, but YourControls does this for MSFS 2020 and FS Copilot for MSFS 2024.
Something like GSX but for all types of planes. I would love to see passengers and freight being loaded in and out of planes in a realistic way. As of now In career mode passengers arrive at the plane and magically teleport into the plane. I would like to see pilot, copilot and passengers realistically enter and exit all types of plane. Simillary for all type of different cargo to realistically being stowed in / out by airport personel. Same for fueling of aeroplanes. Link this to some kind of mission generator and you have my dream scenario. Now there is a true purpose to my flying.
I’d love a GSX-like for small planes. Something that can board/deboard passengers without spawning a cabin-crew greeter with her head through the roof of the plane. Small jet fuel trucks, not just 100LL trucks. Visually connected fuel hoses for planes that have fuel ports on top of the wings or the side of the fuselage. (Like what Flysimware’s Lancair Legacy has built in). Water & lav service for bizjets. Manual cargo loading off of a truck or a pallet on a forklift (an expanded version of what the payware upgrade to NeoFly has for cargo jobs).
Didn’t know about Neoflys cargo jobs. Yes exactly like that but with more animated details! https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/Ld7EljVstKM
My Personal Comment & Observation
Since the World Hub - any any improvements & feature additions to it - appears to be many months, if not years away, I’d like a tool that allowed users to easily and quickly replace the default autogen buildings at the smaller GA airports with more realistic terminals & hangars, on a per-airport basis, without changing the other aspects of the airport.
It’s a real immersion-killer to fly into a small airport and be greeted by a “terminal” or “hangar” that looks like a poorly designed apartment building created by a first-year student at an architectural college.
That’s a brilliant idea! I’ve been so spoiled with custom (and mostly payware) airports that autogen airports seem so boring and lifeless, even with beautiful nearby scenery. Something that spruces it up even a bit would be great.
I would like an addon that pre-sets the World Map time of day and month.
When making frequent short flights to different locations and testing things, it is very tedious to set the date and time every time I start the World Map.
I’m suggesting something similar to JayDee’s World Map Filter Presets.
Something to control font sizes so that panels such as ATC and others are not so huge.
A tool that would allow ALL dialog windows (ATC for example) to be moved to a 2nd monitor - and those window positions would be remembered on sim startup.
//42 FlowPro does some of this.
ARCAL - Pilot Controlled lighting for smaller airports. Most GA airports around the world have lights that are controlled by the pilot at night…
FSExplore has an implementation, but I think it needs people to go around adding the lighting to each airport in the addon? Not sure if many are covered yet.
Extremely specific: something that fetches the current location of the plane, and then plays a local radio a’la Radio Garden. May even find use for the otherwise unusable “Music” option in some avionics
for xbox console players to be able to use a pad in FS24!
Yes, would love this. Also the option to choose from a variety of music sources by linking with your (music service of choice) accounts.
I’d give anything for the RealTrim tool from back in the FSX/P3D days. You hold the yoke where you want it, press a button, release the yoke and it trims the plane hands-off. Yes, not realistic, but at the same time trimming takes weeks in the sim (exaggerating) and just to get a very close approximation of what you need at the click of a button really makes life easier. Trimming is SO easy and quick in real life.
