Any news on SU16?
The last dev stream was not too clear for me. So we will get SU16 after all 2024’s SU have been released? Or waiting for world hub in second half this year? Can someone explain it?
I think they do SU 1,2,3,4 first for 2024.
Long way off. 2020 simmers have to make do for now with the long list of bugs and fixes requested. I’m still waiting for the cockpits lights to be fixed from the A320 Sept/Oct update.
I’m still waiting for bugs to be fixed from SU5, gonna be waiting forever as I can see they’ll never fix them and now that they’re concentrating on the new titles issues it could be a long time before SU16 drops…if ever.
And here we are with a product that’s still being sold for the original 70-120€ price tag getting nothing but crickets and tumbleweed on the tech front since October, close to half a year now. At least it’s not the meme level of broken that 2024 is.
Didn’t Asobo announce SU16 was finally going to come out first quarter of 2025 or something? Long, long overdue.
I wonder if they are going to backtrack on the date again.
Even though I am a FS2020 flyer, I still feel that their priorities should be on sorting out the hundreds of issues with FS2024, even if that delays an update for FS2020. If that is the cause of delay, I have no problem with it.
It certainly will be the cause of the delay. They are basically fighting a forest fire with a water pistol at the moment, granted, they’ve been upgraded recently to a Super Soaker 5000, but the fire is still burning. Once everything has died down, I’m sure they’ll get to work on SU16.
I think SU16 actually had been partially finished since they announced it to be released even before MS 2024. I hope it’s just waiting for new aerial parts to be finalized.
bro its planned to release SU1 SU2 SU3 SU4 for 2024 now. by end of the year nobody wants 2020 anymore.
Su16 aint happening.
Please anyone inform about the development and release of SU16 for MSFS2020 that was supposed to be release last year and was promissed for Feb/Mar 2025. MS/Asobo promissed continued support for MSFS2020 and this is not happening
Below is the last info directly from the senior FS leadership of MS/Asobo from the March '24 livestream. A few comments about the memory savings in the GDK, and some issues with bringing the higher resolution scenery into FS2020, and then their commitment to continued support of 2020. But not even a WAG on when we might see SU16.
So I guess their vision is: Don’t give up on it, but don’t hold your breath waiting for release.
Regards
They have bigger issues to direct resources at right now than 2020, it might come at somepoint in the future but yeah dont go holding your breath.
They do have issues. But on XBox there are users who get black screen in flight. The sim they can’t use in particular ways. The memory saved by this SU is supposed to resolve that. And yet the fix is done, they just keep putting it off. Yes, 2024 users, some are still angry about release. But what good does ignoring your user base that is having issues in your other sim? Those customers are going to learn to not trust you, and trust is a valuable business commodity. Putting a minimal team together just to package this SU and put it up for beta should not adversely effect 2024, but goes a long way towards satisfying your customer base.
If you had 2020 on XBox and your screens are going black. You hear about all the issues with 2024. Are you going to be terribly excited about EITHER version? Yes, they lose 2024 customers each day. But once it is fixed many might come back. But if you alienate your userbase who is still on 2020? Chances are you are going to lose them for good.
We aren’t talking about excessive development here. The work has been said in Dev Q&A is done. They just need to package it up into a beta, put it out there. If there are issues, its probably going to be on the XBox OS side.
I’m not on XBox. I’m on PC. But I just dont get how you leave a segment of your userbase with a non-functioning sim, you have all the fixes you want done, but just don’t take the time to finish it up. Focus, Finish, Celebrate.
My personal experience with fs2020 is more tainted by lack of certain functionality together with very poor user interface design choices, rather than actual bugs that harm my simming experience.
However, if continued support for fs2020 does not materialize in the upcoming weeks I know I will be making preparations to hop over to the competition sim.
I spent some money on addons which I’ll lose but that’s nothing compared to what I spent on hardware that will be just as useful for me in “the other” flight sim.
Oh i totally agree, im also an xbox user who atays with 20 because 24 is such a bad experience right now and even more so for the price point.
I really hope 20 gets the promised update asap but we have all seen how these things usually end up. But yeah, other companies would do things different for sure. Fingers crossed they are good to their word this time around
there’s a discussion going on in another thread that we may not get the SU16 updated until sometime in 2026.
Looks like they are focusing all their energies on 2024.
But then again, isn’t there a dedicated team for 2020 and 2024?
Hi @opencamswrx,
It was announced in yesterday’s Developer Blog that Sim Update 16 Beta is due to commence very soon. Information about SU16 not coming until 2026 is false.
