The actual folders aren’t on C: Those are symbolic links to folders on the drive you chose to instal FS24 on. Symbolic links only take up a few bytes, but they make the files\folders appear as if they are stored on the drive that has the link.
Open Raoming folder - locate folder named Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and take a screenshot that clearly shows this folder in the list. Add the screenshot to the topic.
Next, open Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 folder - once inside, take another screenshot showing the contents of the folder and add it to the topic as well.
If a different location is specified for Community folder - Community folder itself as well as Official2020 and Official2024 folders, will remain empty on the C drive. This behavior is consistent with the way it works in MSFS 2020 as well.
You are referring to the so-called core launcher files. Even after moving Community, Official2020 and Official2024 folders to another directory or drive - launcher and its core files will still remain on the C drive. This behavior is also the same in MSFS 2020.
If you want launcher and its files (approximately 17GB) to be on another drive - you will need to move the launcher itself as well.
Symbolic links do not consume disk space on the disk they’re linked on. Like I said, I have 17GB less of disk space in C. Therefore, those are not symbolic links but actual files. I have my entire community folder full of those in 2020, if they were, I would recognize it.
That was my entire point. And no, you absolutely can move the launcher and core files in 2020. I did. If you do this with 2024, the game will re-download everything in C again.
You forgot to include the screenshots I requested.
How to disable streaming scenery that i have from 2020 automaticly in liberaly?
Setting up a new community folder is dead easy in 20204. Go to the my library section of the marketplace and hit the little cog wheel button to the right of the search box. You can then choose any location for your community folder.
Note that it will create a new community folder within whatever folder you choose.
Also note that as far as I can see you have to manually enable the community folder once you fire up the sim and before you load into whatever flight you’re going to take. Its a bit annoying but it does at least mean much shorter initial load times when launching the sim. It also gives you more control over what you want to load when going into a flight.
Thats great , but add on linker can do that latter part , correct?
I load up MSFS 2020 through add on linker 100% of the time , it loads much faster too if you check the fast launch tab
And the developer has added a new MSFS 2024 version to run alongside so you just share the Add ons folder with the two add on linkers you can now have , one for 2020 and one for 2024 using the same original folder which will put them into the specific community folders of your sim , be it 2020 or 2024
Thats the theory anyway , now whether your addons will work in 2024 is another matter !!!
Maybe you won’t need add on linker so much now?
Yes maybe , as a lot of it is cloud based , I get your point , but only for freeware /payware stuff that you can test out and keep like airports etc:
How do you do this manual enable exactly ? Thx
That’s a filter not an enable / disable toggle…
I´m felling a bit down, yet again… Don´t get me wrong, It looks amazing, it feels great but… the Azores Real Time is still wrong. I remember The “A” team saying a few months ago that this was going to me solved . Updates came and Updates have gone, and the Real Time for the Azores have been wrong ever since day one. Honestly, I was expecting this not to be an issued for me anymore, but I was wrong.
Asobo/MICROSOFT, please get the real Time for all the Zones that have it wrong, but the Azores for me is a must.
Thank you
It seems to turn it on and off anyway.
i tried that. It hasnt seen a single piece of my old community content. nothing.
I’ve only tried it with one bit of old photogrammetry scenery. Seemed to work for me.
yeah how this isnt working for me
i moved my mods folder did the files stuff and when i select the folder i want i leave the game come back to find it just keeps making more community folders [grid]
