Exactly my thoughts with the A32X series from Airbus. You can tell they were designed by engineers who had absolutely zero interest in airplanes.
Totally different class of aircraft though. You can see the demand for a high fidelity Twotter just by reading the forums. Unfortunately the Asobo one that replaced Aerosoft’s is the snub nose, which using your analogy would have been like Fenix only releasing the A318!
Absolutely !!
Boulton Paul Defiiant I’d like to see you fly this fighter with no forward-firing armament and get shot at from the front or from below.
This fighter was a British failure. Whoever flew it had less than 48 hours to live before being destroyed.
It is not comparable to the Fiat C.R.25, the CANSA F.C.20, or even the Breda Ba.88 “Lince.”
Very few I’m sure. But like many I know, the whole reason I have a flight sim is to fly unusual planes to unusual destinations. I’ve been to places like DFW, AMA, CLT, etc. in real life many times, but that’s not where I go in the sim. I go to St. Barts, Sion, Kodiak, and a few other places that I’ll probably never see in real life. When I go there, I generally fly something GA. That includes things like the C208 (probably the only single prop I fly now), a few twins, or a biz jet like the Honda or Cirrus.
for an aviation enthusiast, MS Flight sim is like an interactive compendium of all the world’s aircraft.
It’s so amazing to be able to select any available aircraft (while the list grows), of any type from any era, and virtually walk around it or climb inside it or fly it.
Coupled with that is having the entire world and so many well represented regions and airports and backcountry strips to fly them to and from. I wouldn’t want anyone to be shorted by lack of their preferred aircraft no matter what it is. To me the best thing about MS Flight sims is fact that it could in time provide everything ever made or imagined, to experience - to fly. What could be better for us?
Lagaffe, who is currently upgrading a DC-4 that was a port from FSX, SOH Community Project : DC-4 Skymaster native
has plans to do an A-26 after he finishes the DC-4 per one of his threads on SOH
A Dornier 328 would be awesome as Carenado are doing the 228.
Sorry but the SOH DC-4/C-54 Project is not a port but a native aircraft for MSFS 2020 :
- all XML code is migrated in ModelBehavior,
- 3D model is modificated and compiled with MSFS 2020 SDK,
- all the cockpits levers or switch are operationnal,
- a lot of new functions/effects have been added to this model (real start engines, vortex in ice conditions, ice on windshield and wings, etc )
- textures will be upgraded in PBR format in the second step
in a first time and perhaps then for MSFS 2024 ![]()
PS: a port is an aircraft “reworked” with MSLegacyImporter then with the modeldef.xml of FSX written in FS9/FSX format like and GUIDs.
Would love to see some Leonardo AW helis!
want to see a B-24 Liberator. had hoped the micropose heritage collection would do it & have been more of a force by now, but alas their only release is lowly rated, over priced and their speed and communication is severely absent. kinda abandoned the whole heritage collection plan
Are you aware of this B-24?
it’s not on marketplace so I can’t use it unfortunately
