Which are your "Top favourite Cities/Places" with the best Photogrammetry to fly in? MSFS2024 + MSFS2020 LIST

New PG City [not on the List yet…]

:us: Birmingham, Alabama, U.S.A

It’s not the best PG but it covers a decent area. Need to check this one out a bit more before it gets rated. :small_airplane: :helicopter:

Last week done a lot of flying at Gibraltar which i havent done in a long time, but im fairly sure there has been changes there, the rock and surroundings im sure it is photogrammetry now.
So i guess it came with the latest update of uk, or maybe it has to do with new bingmaps

Unfortunatly the Spain side is generic

What I’m interested in is areas that have great/detailed DEM. I noticed when flying from the North to Salt Lake City the terrain was very detailed but it wasn’t PG. Can this be included/added or is there another thread perhaps that covers DEM?

Slightly off piste here, however, I own the Paris Landmarks city pack from Orbx for 2020. Great pack, really like it.
Anyone know if there is a discounted upgrade route to get it for 2024? Sadly, I can’t seem to find one.

The rocks been there since a few world updates ago I believe, I flew it in 2020 a while back. It looks great but it’s such a small area. Definitely worth checking out though.

Yes, I’d be interested in this as well and have wondered the same thing.

Yes but the area looked different in msfs2020 the rock it self still does imo
The msfs 2024 seems more detailed to my eyes

I won’t say I know the area well but Henderson by UK2000 was one of my favorite destinations for quite a while and I noticed when the area became more built up. One of the football teams has a training facility just west of the airport and its there now. It was a construction zone.

BTW - are you on PC or X Box? Does the Washington DC region look good to you in FS 2024? Its a bit of a mess for me on XBoxX. A number of areas that were great in FS20 are not great at all in FS24 and Im hoping its not just me.

hope things are going well.

I’m on PC. I’ll have a look at Washington DC in a bit, it’s the wife’s birthday so not been on the sim today. Last time I flew there it was probably the first Beta Update it looked really nice so will see if it still looks as good

I’m in the same boat. I don’t have the time to Include that at the minute but I’ll never say never. I was also toying with the idea of including TIN countryside areas seeing as it is technically PG, so time will tell. At the minute I’m too busy just enjoying the Sim :helicopter: :small_airplane:

Is there TIN Countryside beside the outskirts of cities? And I guess that section of the grand canyon? I can’t believe how difficult it is to find the most detailed areas of the game to fly in without using the internet.

That said 2024 SU1 on PC has been looking great for me recently. Most of the areas I load into are looking super sharp. Has anyone else noticed improvements?

I checked out that new homes area in Vegas, I agree it looks great. I think part of the reason is lack of trees, in treey areas it can be a bit hit or miss how well the photogrammetry trees are squashed and replaced with the in game assets, but new areas don’t have that issue.

I am sure this has probably been mentioned before in recent posts here, and if so please accept my repetiton as a positivie confirmation… but I just flew Glasgow to Edinburgh and FOR SURE these areas are now covering much wider areas than before.

The whole north and east of Glasgow (about 10 miles in each direction) is PG where it was AG before, and a massive new area east of the hills by Holyrood in Edinburgh where I am 100% sure was suddenly AG, is now in glorious PG too.

The detail is really good too - houses are very clear to see and even small details like fences in peoples gardens come out.

The scores you have for them each are already correct hehe (15/15 each in 2024).

This is what the area typically looks like for me on X Box X:

but, in fairness, some areas like this near Leesburg KJYO have been improving: Note the shots are different seasons and weather

56F light NE wind.
Heavy thunderstorms approaching, turning into another blizzard by midnight, NW gusting to 70mph

This time only a few inches of snow and temps down to the 20s.

The groundhog was right this year

Augsburg, Germany (EDMA). Nothing that special about the city (sorry to any Augsburgians reading!) but the PG quality is really good resolution.

For example, never seen the thin sound shield walls look this clear anywhere!

Can see a skate park in the background. Hedges and fences around houses are held up too. Pretty nice!

It’s already 14/15 but Leeds/Bradford is an easy 15/15 for me. Not sure where you can fault it. The photogrammetry is extremely good quality and the photogrammetry area looks to be huge at about 19NMx8NM (more than 8 in some places looking at the map)
