[EDIT: If you have tried to get a refund through the XBox app and it was declined, please use the following link to request your refund. You will receive an automated email telling you that it will take up to 72 hours to respond, but from my experience, there is at least a human being assessing your request, mine was approved and repaid into my account in two days.

Thanks]
I have just tried to get a refund for FS2024 via XBox (as per online instructions for purchases via the Microsoft store) and was declined automatically. Tried to address using chat services, but the bot there shut me down too. Tried MS phone number for UK and got to speak to an equally unhelpful bot.
£200 pre-paid for a game that doesn’t work, I’d rather the money in my account than Microsoft’s until they provide a game that functions here in the UK.
Can anyone advise what I can do to get my refund?

If you paid with a UK credit Card you can claim a refund from your provider as an automatic right, under the sales of goods act. Since the goods received, digital or otherwise, were not of merchantable quality and with plenty of evidence to back it up, and given MS have a base in the UK at Reading, your claim should be straight forward.

Good idea. I paid with Paypal, so I will raise with them, thanks

From what I read this was 2021 if you bought it from the MS store you can’t. I’m on windows and I bought it through XBOX app. I just asked for refund yesterday ONLY because I can’t be streaming all this. If that changes … I will buy this again in a heart beat. All that said within hours I got my money back I preordered this back in Oct 3rd I think. This was all done by me XBOX app… profile… I think settings… and then showing what I bought… blah blah blah.

Just an FYI to all those who charge back or similar. Your xbox account will get perm banned if you do it.
Best to just keep at it with support.

This link seems to be a better method of requesting a refund if you haven’t tried it

I’m a little confused here. I’m on Windows, I think I purchased via the MS Store as that is where my download was initiated, but online instructions on how to request refunds direct to XBox. As I understand it, there is a legal right to cancel within 30 days of purchase. My payment only went through on 13th November.

Thanks, I’ve just done that, but if they refuse, I will gladly have my account closed. Certainly don’t want to be funding such a poor service.
The strange thing is, I didn’t come across that option following all the instructions that I followed.

Right, ive had enough. I asked for a refund but got denied due to exceeding refund limits. I have NEVER asked for a refund of any microsoft product. So why, is it because you`ve lost so much revenue over 2024 that you now have to make up reasons to refuse a refund. Under UK law i am entitled to a refund for a product that does not work. Moderators make of this what you will, flag it, remove it but if you think i have been treated fairly then I want nothing more to do with you.

Just had the same exact thing. To my recollection I’ve not asked for a refund in the last 12 months. No reason for it. Are they being refused out of hand?

That’s the same excuse I had. first time I have ever requested a refund. I followed the link from MrBiscuitTheCat above and awaiting a response. If they decline again, I’ll raise a dispute through Paypal. I’ve just uninstalled the game after trying again through a VPN and getting nowhere.

Not sure what’s happening, I’ll let you know when I get a response.

The sim is streamed through the Xbox app on your PC, so it is your link to MSFS.
Use the link in there to request your refund!

I got the same response. Cancelled an order once 6 years ago, never refunded.
This looks automated as so many people are getting it. I don’t get a sense that some support person is intentionally lying to people, but the refund systems are clearly swamped, much like a certain Flight Simulator I could mention.
I no longer need a refund as things are turning around, but it’s not a good look.

I don’t understand wanting a refund for a game you were excited enough to pre-order, just because it had some launch issues. Similar things happened with FS2020, and it ended up a really good product. The server issues are annoying of course, but they aren’t surprising for launch day and they will get addressed.
If you’ve never been through a game release before then I get it, but otherwise what did you honestly expect? And that’s not to say it’s ok. But it is what it is these days in the gaming industry. Ultimately it’s your money and your choice of course, but aren’t you just going to be buying it back in a few weeks/months once things settle down?

I’ve never even considered refunding. I have 30+ hours already in this game. Loving it. Sure there are some bugs but the game is perfectly playable.

The joke of the day “some issues”… this piece of ■■■■is unplayable. Most people can’t even enter the simulator.
