Why Is There Still Live Weather Issues?!?

They never said anything fixed, in fact see road map, on going fix, they had meeting with to Meteo Blue for change, and Jorg said not ready for prime time, it will take time.

As much I see this promising if they can fix weather accuracy, this nagging problem of weather only on first flight is one that has plagued some folks since launch, and they still haven’t acknowledged it as a genuine issue in the sim, preferring to blame the user for the issues instead.

There is 2 things here connection and accuracy, the connection is not consistent, why? no one found it yet, it’s either servers issue or something get drop out inside Msfs. As for data accuracy this need change from Meteo blue.

For me, most of the weather issues seem to be delivery related. Either the live weather doesn’t load correctly (I’ve started using the clear skies workaround and that has been extremely reliable), or the live weather itself is not up to date.

However, when the live weather is working, I’d say it’s pretty accurate. Now, accurate for me means the weather is generally close to real life. I’m not looking for exactness. I don’t need every cloud layer or wind reading to be exact. But if there are storms moving into the area, or if the skies are clear, I expect to see that in the sim.

I’ve found this to be the case since SU3. Prior to that, when it worked, it was reasonably accurate. Temperatures, pressure and winds were real time accurate. Cloud cover and precipitation could be off from a few minutes to a few hours, but mostly it was good enough for my use. I recognized it could be better, but I was satisfied for offline flying. If I had been on Vatsim or something like that, it would have been a different story.

But since SU3, I find the weather is wildly inaccurte. The in-sim weather doesn’t even come close to matching what you see on the world map screen as you load in your flight. When the world map tells me thunderstorms and high winds and I load it to mostly clear skies with a few small clouds and no winds, there’s a disconnect somewhere.

I’ve also tried switching servers. That makes no difference either.

The only solution right now is to restart the game after each flight, and that’s not fun at all, personally I take the opportunity to make coffee and take a smoke in the meantime.

Indeed. It’s a major annoyance for sure. That why I was using the workaround for a long time, but I got tired of the wind issues it caused me. So now I’m back to restarting after every flight. It’s a pain.

I really wish they’d fix this.

Since I’ve switched to automatic server connection I haven’t had a single weather issue.

Ive had the „first flight live weather only“ for a long time. Switched to automatic, restarted, problems gone.

havent had problem ever

LOL I said this all the way back in Sept, they release because they had a bored captive audience…fueled by the marketing geeks no doubt…

Interesting, look like server connectivity related and not sure if it can be from country, msfs , meteo blue, windows 10 etc..

I always use automatic server unless I’m specifically joining into a group flight that are using another server.

I’ve had the weather on first flight bug since the last November update. No amount of switching servers has ever made a difference to fix it.

Flying in the UK I always seem to get reasonably accurate real weather. However in the USA it’s almost always the “default 225/3”. Not yet tried the workaround, will give it a go.

Location doesn’t seem to make a difference or me. I fly NA a lot, but also Australia, New Zealand, Asia, India and Europe. It’s the same every time. Restart the sim to get weather past the first flight.

I have seen your posts before and I am really puzzled, you reformated your machine and your son on the same network doesn’t have this issue, this is really mind puzzling. As I mentioned last time, I have stopped seeing this issue since Nov last year and now i start few flights on the same sim session and I always get the correct weather though. One thing is, I am in Europe, so it could be CDN issues? Have you tried to use VPN and connect to different continent for the sake of testing?

If his son is on the same network, he’d be experiencing the same issues if it were ISP related.

Could it have something to do with our Xbox accounts? Maybe there’s some difference on the backend of these accounts that cause issues for some and not for others?

True. This is really an annoying issue to replicate

I had the weather issue on launch. No live weather after first flight.

Then in one of the patches in September, they fixed it. And it worked fine for me until the last patch in November. It hasn’t worked or me since.

Many folks have suggested that the issue was with my computer, Windows, my network, etc. I could rule out my home network, since my son also uses it and has no issues with his weather.

So I was hoping that after a reinstall of my computer it would fix the issue, but unfortunately it made no difference.

I’ve tried using auto server connect. I’ve tried manually connecting to every other server. Again, no difference.

And I’ve tried VPN (Private Internet Access) to diagnose both my slow download of updates and the weather. I’ve tried setting my VPN to several different countries, locations in different countries too. No change.

Oddly though, sometimes just out of the blue, weather will start working again flight after flight. It may last from a single session to a few days. And then just as mysteriously and randomly as it started working, it will stop again.

I can’t make heads or tails of it.

The only difference really is that he’s using the MS Store version (he started with GamePass then bought the full PD edition) and I’m using Steam.

I really doubt it’s a Steam issue, since Steam is only the delivery mechanism and has nothing to do with the in-sim content or connectivity.

Oh man, I am sorry to hear that. It is frustrating indeed plus the performance issues that all of us are facing.
