Why Is There Still Live Weather Issues?!?

Nope definitely Steam has nothing to do with that, I am using tht steam version as well

It’s been a frustrating experience. I’ve tried everything I can think of.

And hearing Seb 2 Q&As ago suggesting this was user error vs an actual issue with this sim was nothing short of infuriating.

Well looking at Asobo trend, I guarantee you, they have no idea what is happening, just like the performance issues, they seem to have no idea why it is happening

Oh I think they do know and know it’s going to be a HUGE task to combine stuff from all their different dev branches they currently have going in order to fix it. Seb’s reaction to it in the Q&A spoke volumes despite him being very vague about it. He was looking forward to having to fix that the same way people look forward to a hot sauce enema.

I haven’t been playing much because of the low FPS issues introduced with the last couple of updates, but when I was tinkering around with it, the live weather was/is working fine for me.

Since SU3, I reduced A LOT my flights… but, when starting from Brazil, at least, I see a lot of lightning even in clear sky..or bizare things like lightining over the clouds (comming from space? lol)

Why are people calling what we have “live weather”? We don’t have live weather, never had live weather, and the devs never intended on providing live weather. Idk why people aren’t more upset about this. Just one of the reasons why I can’t trust anything Microsobo says anymore. They claimed live weather, watermasking that showed beautiful coastlines and reefs, and true to live aircraft performance but not one of those things were delivered at launch. 6 months later they all have serious issues. As far as the weather it doesn’t seem to me that they plan on eventually giving us live weather. They want to give us “forecasted weather”. Idk about you guys but I can trust my weather forecaster about as far as I can throw him but point is forecasted weather is NOT live weather. Huge difference!

Because I appreciate that half of something is still better than nothing. Being upset about it doesn’t help. It’s just going to fill your emotions with a lot of negativity and prevent you from being content with the little things. The only thing you can do, is report the issue, and let them work on it. There’s no point in getting upset about it because it’s out of your control.

I’ve lived long enough in life to know that, out of all the things that you want to have, 99% of the time, you’ll never get them. So I learned to just live in the moment, and appreciate the things that do go right, and focus on that. Go with the flow, work on something that’s within your power to control, otherwise, it’s a wasted effort.

Book author Richard Carlson taught me this.

Crunchmeister - how about a conspiracy theory?

Ever thought about changing your gamertag? Just in case , you know, they look at your posts and say “this guy’s a troublemaker, let’s really wind him up”.

It’s a JOKE before anyone starts flaming! Let’s all keep our sense of humour folks - it’s all supposed to be FUN!

They’ve said this since day 1. Will believe when I see it.

Maybe because it’s called LIVE WEATHER in the game???

Two steps forward, three back.

I don’t remember them ever saying that live weather is fixed or even put a date on when it would be fixed (except for now). Asobo has always started that it was a work in progress.

Yesterday I flew the helicopter around my home airfield - I actually live just over the fence so can easily compare the sim with the real world. And it was accurate.

Today I continued a trip across the northern USA, using the “workaround” of starting in clear blue sky then changing it to “live” once into the aircraft. Result, for the first time in ages I actually had some weather to contend with. Now as I live in the UK I’ve no way of knowing if it was accurate or not, but it generally agreed with the ATIS and metars I called up.

To me that’s good enough - okay there will be some for whom it is not. But we are never going to get real-time weather everywhere in the world without a much more sophisticated gathering system which is never going to happen because it would be far, far too expensive. And I don’t think it was ever promised by MS/Asobo anyway.

Let’s just accept that forecasts, which I understand is what the game weather is based on, are never going to be totally accurate and get on with our flying by using what we’re given. After all, isn’t that what happens in the real world as any real world pilot will tell you?

Okay, the presentation still needs a bit of work so that we don’t have to resort to workarounds but ranting about it will do nothing but spoil the experience. If it isn’t good enough for you personally I’m sorry that it doesn’t meet up with your expectations. But I’m sure there are hundreds of thousands, indeed millions, of people who have bought the product and are more than happy with, lets face it, the most technically innovative and accurate simulation project ever to be available to use on basic personal computer equipment.

There are, of course other issues with the programme to be and which will be sorted out. Those with accurate memories will recall earlier versions of Flight Simulator all had their teething troubles which were eventually sorted out, presumably to everyones satisfaction judging by how some folk hark back to “the good old days”!

It is a sad reflection on modern society how we have evolved into a “must have it now” mindset. I don’t have as much time left as many of you simmers out there to be patient, but patient I will be, old fuddy duddy that I am! :sunglasses:

MSFS weather seems to be working for me as of recently.

MSFS Weather = Current Metars = REX metars, and the weather in the sim, as depicted and measured by simconnect all match.

So today when i tested it , it was working fine … we will see if it still is working tomorrow / next week / next month.

That’s not true. Their snapshot used to list the item as fixed.

How do you like the REX add on? I would like live weather based on metar but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t like default weather system and mechanics. How are transition in REX?

You’re not asking me per se, but I like REX… it’s great when MSFS doesn’t work. It’s not perfect, either, due to the transition of weather (it needs improvement) but it’s way better than when it first launched.

Yea the transitions are what stopped me from getting it in the first place. The dynamic weather system in the base sim is just too good to throw away for the better accuracy.
