Agreed - they did add a instant transition vs gradual transition to help alleviate this (in REX), but it’s not perfect.
That’s why I never went for a 3rd party solution. I never tried it myself, but I’ve seen enough videos of people using it. I find it jarring and unnatural. Even if MSFS weather isn’t always 100% accurate to the location I’m flying, it’s typically pretty close, it looks great, and feels very natural.
Although I have to say since SU3, accuracy between what’s shown on the world map and what’s in sim once you load it is completely different.
Agreed, the world map is not at all accurate, usually.
The other day I filtered the map based on precipitation. I found a spot that should have been under a severe storm, at least according to the world map. Even the icon at the top right showed lightning and storm conditions.
I loaded into the sim to sunny skies with a few small clouds.
And since I was doing about 10 fps, I just quit immediately and shut down the sim. Couldn’t be ■■■■■ to go and compare it to real world weather to see which weather was accurate.
Yea sometimes I get weather that seems like it would be accurate to within an hour or less and other times it may be forecasts that look to be 8-10 hours or so old. For me it’s always been completely random though.
I’ve found temperature, pressure and winds are typically accurate to real world conditions within a small margin. Clouds and precipitation can be off by anywhere from 15 minutes to several hours behind.
